Today, I finally got to the end of my "to do" list. I fixed the erratic temperature gauge needle and the trip reset viewtopic.php?f=25&t=20860

Now everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING works on the button, first time, every time, whether it's mechanical or electrical.

Not claiming my car is perfect as there are always things that can be improved and things will always break or wear out, but for now, I have one sorted Porsche. It's a good feeling.

I just wanted to share a good news story.

Cheers,
Bryan

Ah, but where would the satisfaction be there?

Anyway, I hope your recovery is going well.

Cheers,
Bryan

Well that didn't last long. Just had the car serviced and been told I need to replace the whole suspension at a cost of £2,250. That's top mounts, coils and dampers front and back. I suppose that 25 years from the original suspension is not too bad.

Here's the video of the inspection from OPC Tewkesbury

Cheers,
Bryan

I can't believe they do videos of the health check and post it online. Then you say £2250 for the suspension and the fact he recommends changing your hardly even scrubbed in yet tyres explains how they can afford such luxuries. I doubt changing all the suspension and the labour would cost half that at a normal garage.

The link is sent to me personally by email so you'd have to look hard to find it on an internet search. Can't really blame them for showing me what they've found. Totally agree about the tyres though. Nothing to do with any alignment issues and plenty of tread left. That's what you get for driving with new tyres on a driver training day! The previous ones were only replaced due to age, not wear.

I'm booked in for the club track day at Blyton Park in July, so the suspension has to be sorted by then. More than happy to take the car to an indy to get things done. I already know a good one. I may be asking lots of questions on here as there are many holes in my knowledge - e.g. what's an insert, what does re-indexing mean etc...

Cheers,
Bryan

Hope all goes well with the repairs. I was just surprised at the level of detail used by them, whenever I take my car in I just get a written ticket saying tyres could do with renewing etc. I'll be keenly reading any replies from those in the know about what you've asked as I don't understand those terms either.
