I replaced my tailgate struts about 3 weeks ago and I find now (weather changing)I have no heated rear window demister.
Is it something I have done? I connected the terminals onto the struts correctly I think and I have checked the fuse all okay.

Check you have power at the wires & I think their are jumpers across the struts, common problem is broken wires where the wires flex when the tailgate opens & closes.

I second Jim there - this was the problem with mine when I first got it

If you find the interior lights now stay on then it is definitely to do with the struts. Clarks garage has a bit about it.
Also it may depend where you got your new struts! I sourced a set from ebay and instantly lost rear hatch heater, had dodgy light circuits and confused the alarm. Replaced the old ones and all was well. There is a lesson in there somewhere...

on the interior light strut you can adjust the on/off position by moving the connector collet on the body side of the strut

The struts were sourced on ebay as heavier duty that the genuine ones and I must admit Iam impressed with the operation of them as my tailgate release button works again due to the strut lifting.....its just the hrw :(
