Yes starting to see the finish line with the shell work. Bolting bits on is the easy part!

Still undecided as to engine choice though!

924 turbo setup, ls v8, or a 16v 944 turbo engine.

Will have some more updates soon. Shell is getting close to completion. Have also collected a few parts to get the car rolling. Will build up the rear end with new power flex black bushes throughout and 9products solid spring plate bushings. Also get the torsion tube powder coated and trailing arms and ally tube mounts vapour blasted so it all looks like new

I just rebuilt my rear beam with powerflex blacks and the 9Products solid spring plate bushings.
I have not used the car on the road/track yet.
When I put the car back on its wheels, I left rear dampers off to make sure there was no binding with the solid bushes fitted.
However there is quite a bit of drag all most as if some light dampers were fitted, hoping this will ease off when the bushes bed in.

will have pic updates in couple of weeks when parts arrive, just need a seat as well now to finish shell with weld in seat rails and get passenger floorpan in. shell isnt too far now. thinking of an awesome colour scheme to paint her!

Being the 40th birthday year of the 924 it would be nice to see a beast of a 924 body with a beast of a 924 engine. Even a 944 based motor as per 924 Carrera GTP would be nice. Going off piste would in some cases be easier I guess. But that's for you to decide. Keep the updates coming

The body is certainly going to be a beast, so I need an engine to match.

I would like to build a 2.5 16v turbo 944 engine, but reading a lot about failures due to oil issues, means it would need to have a dry sump setup and they are not cheap. (Or easy to come by)

I thought about Ls v8, but tbh a Porsche engine is what I much prefer.

I know for a fact a 2.5 16v 944 based engine will make the power I want with ease. It's reliability I'm concerned about.

I think the 924 turbo engine would be easier to make work, but I think the power level would be much lower with the same sort of money spent.

My thinking at the minute, is to forget about the engine and get the shell to a rolling shell with suspension and brakes and body all sorted.

Engine is last on the list of jobs to do.

I would like to try get the shell rolling and painted, and at some shows this year. But that may be optimistic based on how my work diary is looking atm.

The shell work is the long winded bit. But I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel now which is great. Can't wait to get some paint on it, but having trouble with colour choice at the minute. I want it to have an impact so looking at side options atm.

Soon as paint is on, I have the majority of bits now ready to just bolt bits on each eve and at weekends, so once painted, I'm hoping for good progress.

I have no idea on size and weight comparisons or power opportunity. But what about a Cayenne or Audi V8 versus the LS1?

Paint colours- are you thinking bright single colour or multi colour? Porsche colours or not?

Not looked into other v8s purely because the Ls series is about the most cost effective for the power available. And it's been done before, so it makes life easier.

Tbh the route I'm going down I would much prefer something turbocharged rather than the v8 n/a route. There isn't enough room for twin turbo v8 from something like an rs6, and getting engine management for something like that will be pricey and wiring complicated.

Using a Porsche engine makes my life easier with regards to time, as everything bolts together and into place. An engine conversion is going to cost me time, which is my main enemy throughout this project.

If I can find a dry sump solution for a 944 engine that doesn't cost 4 grand, then that's the route I will likely follow.

I have seen many 944 based engines at 2.5/2.8/3.0/3.1 all putting out very impressive power and torque figures, without huge build costs. It's just the oil and heat issues that concern me.

Before its suggested I'm not interested in the vag 1.8t engine, it's not my cup of tea.

Paint I'm thinking one colour outside and different colour inside/cage

The main colours in my mind atm are Audi sepang blue which can be found on new rs6
With silver/gunmetal interior

Black exterior with silver interior

Or keep it bright yellow throughout possibly speed yellow

I want it to be away from the norm, and be striking.

I'm a fan of blue, but most cars in the past have been black. So I'm leaning toward the blue which is a metallic/pearl colour. With black wheels
