Hi, I recently ordered a brake refurb kit for my 1991 944 S2 from a well known supplier. However, when I tried to fit them, I hit a problem: the stock 944 S2 front brakes are 4-pot brembos using two different sizes of pistons - a leading 40mm piston and a trailing 36mm piston. On my calipers I have a 38mm piston and a 36mm piston - what is going on? Are these non-standard calipers? I have tried searching online, and found nothing. Does anyone know if Porsche ever fitted a 38/36mm caliper to the 944? If so which model?

I think you'll find someone has put a rear caliper on the front!!As far as I know , the 36/38 pistoned calipers go on the rear - someone with more knowledge feel free to correct me!!

PET lists them as part # 951 351 421 00 / 951 351 422 00 for front callipers on early (up to MY86) 944 Turbos.

Hi Zedhex -

The only thing I know about the brakes on my S2 is that the brake pads are the same size, front and rear. The front obviously positively biased. The upgrade M30 suspension carried the associated Turbo brake kit (I think that I am correct in this assumption...?).

As yours is a '91 S2, it may be interesting to look at a 968 spec model - ie did Porsche fit different callipers at this time?

Not sure if this helps very much - but I hope you get it sorted!

Dave
