Put the road wheels back on and topped the oil up after this:-

Fitted recently donated, and seemingly perfect, a/c compressor. Changed over all associated seals for fresh ones whilst I was in there. Up to my mate's house for a quick vac and re-gas and we have icy cold air once again!

Big thanks to Ken :D

Cheers

Stuart

Yes. For the 3 days a year the sun is out. A must!

If it's fitted it's got to work, right

Correct my learned friend!! And getting a/c working on a 26 year old car is no mean feat! After replacing my condenser, drier and compressor, and replacing most seals, converting to R134, persevering with dye and ester oil, I feel I have earned my 3 days of sun in an air conditioned vehicle!!

I suppose it wouldn't matter if the seals aren't all that good as it'll take more than 3 days for the gas to leak out. Saves a few quid that way.

Lol indeed! I am hoping that my new seals will ensure that for next year's 3 days I will still have gas in the system!

Fitted KLA strut brace and tbh it's rubbish I can flex it easily. Brackets are ok so I intend to replace the brace itself with something much stiffer in steel.

Finally putting stuff back on...

Re-sealed power steering pump
New engine mount
Re-sealed oil cooler
Balance shaft bearings and seals
Crank seal and oil pump drive gear
Steering shaft
OPRV seals

....now to get the head off to the machine shop for new valve guides, weld up the corrosion and skim

Took of my exhaust with the intention of decatting it, to find that the previous owner had gutted the cat - the thing was completely empty. Oh well, not a complete waste as there were a couple of leaks to fix. The PO really was the ultimate bodger, with studs replaced by bolts, and wrong sized bolts (with no washers) everywhere. Some people should not be allowed within 50ft of a spanner!

Not done much on mine bar drive her pretty much everywhere lately...

Picked up these 8 way 928 seats the other day for £100. They need a new switch and a couple of the plastic levers on the sides to tilt them to work fully but after a clean the leather is pretty good overall. Got them mainly for the red piping and passenger bolster to repair the duff one on my drivers seat...

Now I just need to find someone to work their upholstery magic :) may find someone at Practical Classics at Trafford Centre tomorrow :)

Said not so complementary things about my 924 as it broke down on me for the first time. It developed a hot start issue earlier this year after spending the winter tucked away in my garage but it was just a bit lumpy for 10 seconds after a hot start. I decided to take the hit on a new accumulator and did pressure tests which where fine, sorted.

This afternoon I put 40 miles on the car and it drove great but 30 minutes later wouldn't start. Left it for 2 hours and it fired up so took it for a spin. Got 1 mile down the road and it cut out and would start. Called my neighbour and we pushed into a nearby industrial estate with the plan to tow it back tomorrow. Stewed on it at home for an hour, went back at she fired straight up so quickly drove her home.

Going to spend this week checking fuel pressures and electrical system but mildly annoyed. First time in 2 years she's let me down plus the accumulator and fuel pipe costs have made a problem worse. Bugger!!

Yesterday I had another epic driving experience in my GTS wannabe.
About 150km away from home starts this 30km long road connecting the City of Resita with the small mining town of Anina.
The road is all corners, some of them with their climbs and drops remind me of the Ring...but much more beauty to bee seen here.
