I picked my 944t up from the local indie this week. WHile in there I had them look at a weap of PAS fluid that I thought was from the pump. Turned out to be from the hose that exits the bottom of the resorvoir...

The garage mentioned that there was a mod on 944;s whereby the hose was too long and eventually starts to fowl on the alternator belt.

Anyone else ever heard of this, as I could not find it in any recall notices & also odd that the problem had never been realised before on a 26yr old car...?

I was going to reply and say that maybe the garage came across a bodged example. It seems however that he may have had a point, but for the wrong reasons.

It seems Porsche have changed the design of the hose due to it being prone to cracking and leaking, which has now been replaced by a short piece of hose.

Hose gets weak from age and and the stretch over the large swage. It's normally possible to cut a bit off and get the fit on a Un stretch part
