Hi All,

Good news, the car is still going 500 miles after a new clutch, oil seals, belt, HT leads, sensors, engine mounts and a few other bits and bobs!

I still have some idle issues where the car drops to 500 revs and bounces up to 700 revs. I suspect that my alternator has died as I changed the voltage regulator which helped for about a day and then the volts dropped again and it runs at between 10-12 volts irrespective of revs.

Another member on here helped me out by supplying an alternator at a good price, the only issue is that it seems to be from an S2. Mine is a 1983 Lux - does anyone know if these are compatible?

Will

as long as the mounts are the same I would think so, just higher amp output

I have an 115 amp alternator from an S2 on my '85.5. Goes straight on, but you will need the matching cowl for the cooling duct as well as it's bigger.

You should change the pulley as its a six run belt on the series two cars, as opposed to the five run type found on series one cars. That said, my own series one has a later alternator fitted and no one bothered, and it didn't suffer unduly.
