I would like to suggest the opposite with regard to tyres. I agree that with most of us, the tyres will expire before they wear out, but I would like top performance when I do need to rely on them. For that reason, I prefer the solution of buying good part-worn premium brands. I bought my 4 Conti's for £150. Fitting though cost £50.

I'm usually tight as a ducks ar*e but on my sports bike or performance car I'd never fit a part worn or budget tyre. I do around 3k hard miles a year on each, the bike needs new tyres every year, the car around 20k, and they're past their best anyway come renewal time.

Valet, T-cut, mop and polish to get best out of bad paint... Ready for Weaver Wander in the morning. Also resprayed rear wiper and polished the exhaust trim :)
The decals were just a touch too big for the rear windows but happy with the result.

OK, so it wasn't technically 'today' but the Weaver Wander was a huge success :)

20 or so Porsches met at Reaseheath College along with a few other esteemed marques...

Then waived off from the Town Square by the Mayor of Nantwich:

After ~48 miles or so through Staffordshire and Shropshire we got to Shugborough Hall for a cracking display and line up cars:

The some fun on the way back to Reaseheath:

At which point the three trophies were presented, including one to TIPEC for Best Club Representation :D

Finally got car back from paint shop, 4 weeks to the day it went in for 2 days work! Don't you just love paint shops!

Anyway, can't complain, top job and excellent price. Had the stonechip all peeled back, some new metal at bottom of wings, rest was all in decent order under the stone chip. Re-stonechipped and painted and liberally blasted with cavity wax behind the wings and into the sills.

Took it for a blast last night to re-acquaintance myself with the joy of boost. Smile a minute!!

Cheers

Stuart

good stuff Stuart! Happy days. Pics!

I made a custom intake j-boot to tidy up the hose routing and eliminate a crimp in the factory boot.

and repositioned the fuel damper & secured it to the throttle body linkage bolt:

Oil and filter change no big deal but fished 3 old washers out of sump plug replaced with 1 new. Using Fuchs 15w/50 fully synthetic. Previously Magnatec 10w/40, engine feels quieter and smoother. Scratching my head over vac pipes two unions on manifold but one blocked off. The more I look the more confused I get. Need to see a non messed with S2 and sort mine out. It's an '89 car with a '91 engine, some subtle differences e.g. fuel injectors are different (used my old ones.) Won't run smoothly until warmed up but I think that's the MAF kit and it's running a bit rich.
Replaced rear pads on SWWBO's Mito so earned a few Brownie points.
Just been for test run, dramatic improvement in oil pressure and no perceivable loss of performance.

Kept thinking the stereo was sounding really pants and finally managed to prise off
the grills which someone had superglued AND seam sealed on.....cheers for that.

Anyway, once off there is obviously not much connecting the paper cone to the
chassis so the recommended Alpines have been ordered. Gave the grills a rub
down and plasticcoated them in satin black as they looked a little sad.

Fixed the sunroof gear mech with a new one from Max at Frazerpart and
stuck down the new to me door sill trims which have added a nice
gentle bit of bling.

Finally feel I'm beginning to get somewhere with the car after many hours
and £££'s, so hopefully it will be worth it and it now looks after me......
