Hi

Bye the way, have just got back from the Donington Festival. I felt sorry for the one TIPEC member and his car that was there. What a sorry site for a club of its size.

Don't feel sorry for me, I was quite happy. Truly an "Independent" Porsche Enthusiast ;) I COULD have gone and parked with the other lot but our parking spot was more convenient. In all honesty, there were probably several more club members there but the "usual" will have happened. They'll roll up to the gate and the chap directing traffic will assume everyone is PCGB and direct anything Porsche-like to where they're parked.

There should have been 10 cars on the TIPEC stand according to the numbers I was sent from DHF.

That doesn't surprise me at all, Sean. The TIPEC area wasn't "obvious", on a flat area up a slope and away from the main "road" in. If you missed it and kept driving you'd end up, eventually, with all the other Porsches and be waved in to park with PCGB by their eager parking marshals with no questions asked. I suspect that's where the other 9 TIPEC cars ended up.

There were 3 x 944 cabs in the TIPEC area on Saturday but I was the only car there on Monday.

There's definitely a fear of track days going on here. It ain't a race nor an observed test of your driving prowess. Just a chance to push your car a bit harder and a bit faster than you might do on the road without any fear of speeding fines or upsetting anyone. It'll be well marshalled with no bullying or harassment. If you can make it to the Isle of Man and thrash around the Mountain then you should be at Blyton supporting the club and enjoying a great little driving circuit.

Doris is not "ready" yet, but I am confident that she will be running by the 23rd, ready for her first track-day. :)

I wouldn't dream of going to a track day without a few spanners * whistles *

With less than one month to go I'm sorry to report we have not reached the numbers for an exclusive day :(

I would still like to keep this event as Tipec and invited guests so if anyone has friends that would like to come along in non-Porsche cars please put them in touch with me. As long as they are sensible and known to a club member we will accommodate booking

Any members still undecided need to book now or else miss out on this event.

I would love us to have a similar event each year and was looking at Mallory for 2016 as it's a more central venue for everyone but unless we get somewhere near the numbers this time I will not try this again.

There is nothing to fear on a track day like this - there is no timing - no aggressive driving - marshalling is professional - and safety well observed by all. If you treat it like a sunday morning blast you will have a lot of fun and enjoy the day. You will also find out a great deal about your car.

Last chance now to book for this event and to secure similar events in future.

Am I too late or can I still book?

It's not apathy that stops me going, nor am I worried about the safety aspects etc. The reason why I personally can't go is that it's a 3+ hour drive to get there. The last thing I want after that is more driving. The obvious solution is to stay the night before, but time away from home is difficult with a young family.

Change of plan - booked!

Just knocked up a new, unique rear number plate for the trackday. You won't see it if you're not there on the 23rd. So sign up everyone, sign up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
