I'm getting a full respray on my 944, and was wondering which rubbers I'll need to replace when I do this and/or any other tips or parts I'll need to order? I'll be taking out the back windows, door rubbers etc. I noticed the door rubbers were a little dry but might get away with some rubber rejuvenation spray. I suspect the window ones will be a bugger?

Things on my list:

Stone chip guards for side
Door mirror seals
Porsche rear sticker

Also, while I'm at it, anyone got the part number for the rear view mirror securing disk, or do people go 20th better aftermarket ones these days? I've got the OEM mirror but the disk is missing and the mirror is on the back seat!

Rear bumper trim
Rear Porsche decal
Boot lock seal
Door mirror gaskets
Door handle gaskets
Sunroof seal
Bonnet badge gasket
Door window scraper seals

Those are the parts I replaced when I had mine painted, as well as an O/S door window frame seal as the original had a small nick out of it.

Cheers dude. Can these all be bought from one place like a club affiliate?

I purchased all my parts except the door window frame seal from OPC, by the time the "specialists" add vat and postage your better buying direct and asking for a TIPEC discount.

Having just had mine done, I sourced window (genuine) scraper seals and boot lock seal from Max at Frazerpart,
roof gutter seals from Aberdeen OPC and stoneguards/rear Porsche script from Roy 924gt or
Porsche decal shop.

The rest of my seals were all newish looking so were re-used, but the new ones really sharpened up the
end look. I'd agree with Alz1933 that OPC are often as cheap as indies. The roof seals were £30 and
a few pence and I bought a new oil filter last week (Aberdeen OPC) for £6.38!

The bodyshop chap commented on the high quality of Roy's decals saying they were nice and thick and
he was very easy to deal with too.

Do you have part codes for these by any chance?

Not anymore I'm afraid, all the receipts obviously went with the car when I sold it last year. If you download the PET manual from Porsche it lists all the part numbers.

I recently purchased mirror to door gaskets and they were crap, probably old stock and too tight to fit even after using hot water, I cleaned and treated my old ones and was so easy to fit.

Send me an email and I will scan and send you the parts list with part numbers from when I had mine done, 2002 but they will be the same - won't they??

Some are best done when refitting after new paint, such as

Mirror gaskets
Door gaskets
Qtr glass rubber
Front door glass guides
Boot lock grommet
Decals (best installed a few weeks after the paint has been applied)

Others can be done when funds allow such as

Door rubbers
Window scrapers
Sunroof seal

Go armed with a full list of items to your local OPC and get them to quote. If they are not too interested then go to Nick and Tom at OPC Bristol, they will be pleased to help. Also send it to Max at Frazerpart who also gives great service. I'd avoid some 'Porsche' specialists as they often buy the parts from Porsche anyway and add their own mark up. Some parts will be cheap enough, some will be pricey.

Any rubber or plastic which still has life left in it but needs refreshing, apply a good coat of Aerospace 303 Protectant and leave to soak whilst the car is in paint. The part will be revived and looking fresh when needed.

I'd be interested to hear where you got the door rubbers from :-)
