The car had a engine and gearbox rebuild 2500mls ago before it was mine i was told it had the later s2 engine and assumed it was the 3lt when i got it home and had a good look it was definitely a 2.5lt.what does the s2 conversion do?

The S2 inlet manifold is supposed to provide better airflow. Other than that I'm not sure :o

I didn't know the S2 manifold would fit... can anyone point me towards any articles or discussion on the merits of this swap. My 924S might appreciate one along when it gets an Augment cam upgrade I am thinking :)

Cheers Rob

All 944Ss are 1987 or 1988 model year cars. Id avoid referring to it as a'1986' even though it was built/registered then, as it could cause problems when buying parts.

I did the S2 intake and throttle body swap on my 2.5 16v engine - see my blog for comparison pics & how I did it. I've gone with a RamAir intake filter as opposed to the factory air boxes, plus some other mods. When you compare the two you can see why Porsche ditched the convoluted S reversed intake design in favour of the S2 style. More air in has got to be better!
