Took a birthday day out with Sharon through Derbyshire with lunch at Baslow and a stop off a Chatsworth Estate.... stopped for a few stags crossing the road....

A very pleasant drive and day out. Saw another Guards Red 968 heading past me between Chatsworth and Baslow but a soft top rather than coupe :D

Your 968 looks great, those wheels really suit it.

Been mucking around with the new set of wheels ready to get them shod in some sticky tyres. These will be purely track wheels but they do need to look pretty.

Set of early deep dish 15'' Teledials I bought.

Image

Now blasted and ready for paint.

Image

Set of the correct metal centre caps I bought.

Image

After a bit of sanding and priming in the garage. Happy I managed to keep so much detail.

Image

This is the set of rally Cookie Cutters. The Teledials to be painted up and clearcoated in the same paint this week. Centrecaps will be finished in the original Porsche Montego Black to go with the rest of the car.

Image

I'm now considering a small role in Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

LOL Ben - those look schweet as!

I MOT'd my 944 after a 3 year project of refreshing, rebuilding and upgrading!

First time in the wild for a long while and just loved driving it again - exhaust note and performance is just what I'd hoped for!

Image

Last MOT was November 2010...

Had the geometry checked and alignment done as well after all the new suspension bits.

The rumble is just perfect.

Happy Days!

Sold the rescued and now fully functioning cab to a good home for the resto and re-standardisation to reach the next level! One Porsche family again. What will be the next project?

Banged in a new Radio / Player.

Not for the purists, but this was extremely cheap at £45 from Halfords and has a bright/clear display (required for a convertible in sunlight) and not to many tiny buttons.

http://www.halfords.com/sat-nav-audio/c ... car-stereo

Sounds great and I didn't need to hack any wiring - the plugs were all the same. USB stick full of music plugs in the front (slot is behind the cover on the right) and you are ready to go.

Also replaced the glove box lid hangers and "carpeted" inside the centre console storage box so that the roof locking tool no longer slides around making a racket.

All small easy things but they do improve the driving (and passenger) experience.

On my car the stereo is fine but the sound is so bad because of the poor speakers I rarely use it.

I'm spoilt as my Jeep has a Boston Acoustics 8 speaker + subwoofer sound system and sounds joyous!

I could upgrade the speakers on the 944 but there are so many other things to spend on with it and hey I'd rather hear the engine. I don't commute in it though. It's only a funday toy.

Haven't had much to say last three months as car is off the road until the gritting
stops, but I've been enjoying all the other posts and felt the need to do
SOMETHING to the car, so:

Finally got the messing alarm sorted out :D It would be fine for days on end
and then go off (usually late at night  ), then go off again and so on....

So even though its tucked up in the (locked) garage, the car is now locked
too which feels much better.

Been getting some bodywork quotes too as it could do with a wee tidy up
here and there and I'd really like the car ready just to enjoy as soon as the
salt has gone!

Cheers all
KennyP

As Kenny, I worried about salty roads.

Then went for a drive anyway!
