July saw the last posts on P-1 which has now sadly closed.

Chris Kenward kindly let the club piggy back his forum for a few years to give us an online communication presence.

Quite a few of us on here first met up via P-1 and I for one have made some great friends on the back of Chris, Cindy and Dave's efforts.

Cheers guys and good luck.

Aye, this forum probably wouldn’t exist if Porsche-1 hadn’t given us somewhere to start from.

Sorry to hear it’s closed.

Good luck with whatever’s next Chris.

I'm sorry to hear that the site has closed. It was a cracking site, but I haven't been on it for quite a while now. (Hardley ever since TIPEC got it's own forum.) Maybe it was people like me that made Chris close it. I feel a little bit guilty now.

Hi Folks

Many thanks for the kind words. Once the TIPEC forum opened and I saw folks starting to drift away from Porsche-1.net, it didn't take too much brain power to realise that, with the advent of the new TIPEC forum, there were just too many Porsche forums on the 'net. To have kept P-1 going would have just simply diluted the community, so time to close and let other forums take over.

I specifically made the offer to then chairman, Ian Hicks, to use P-1.net. Reasons were simple - because I loved the club and wanted no more than to help provide an Internet presence for the members. At the time I knew it would only be a matter of time before the club stood on its own - a natural progression.

I'm very happy to have been able to have done two very solid things for the club - (a) provide a forum free of charge for the members for four years and (b) to have taken over the editorship of All Torque, at a time when one more magazine would have meant the demise of the club because of its cost to produce. I had grand fun doing both!

Now I'm happy to just hang about and enjoy! Long may it last. :)

Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris,
i never went on the p-1 forum as i never knew it existed (possibly much like many owners don't know mine exists) but like yours its there as a purpose and maybe one day it will attract attention.

so from what i have learned from reading this thread it seems that there a lot of people that owe you a lifetime of gratitude and that includes myself, simply because without you're help this forum/club would possibly not exist.

thanks Chris :D
