Hi. First post here so I'll introduce myself. My name's Luke, from Leeds West Yorkshire.

I'm looking for white 944, preferably the S model (87-89) but will consider any other model. I actually prefer the old style seperate bumper shape and old dash, so certainly don't mind a base model.

My requirements are the usuals: Clean body, FSH and no leaks. I would ideally like one with under 100,000 miles but again, will happily consider slightly more mileage in order for a well looked after one.

We don't call the more nimble, sexy and pure 944's "base" round here chum...

Good luck with your search, the early cars with the square dash are lovely if you find a good one. I'll keep my ear to the tracks, but in the meanwhile it's worth keeping also an eye on 924 forum and PCGB as well as eBay and Pistonheads.

Good man, keep your rear track narrow and your dash square... watch out for bally cracks and sill-rot, can spoil any chap's lunch-hour can that blighter!

Do you have TWO white 944s?

Noooooo, not even one!

Mine is an '84 944 in Pastel Beige rather than white... The other lovely early car is Broady_6's '84, and that one *is* white

Nah...

Broady_6 is a good friend and we live within a few miles of each other in North Lincolnshire and so you'll often see our cars pictured together. He's a talented engineer and a solid chap too. Mine would still be in bits in the garage without him.

Get yourself over to sample some of the great roads in this area once you're in a '44, there are hundreds of miles of quiet and interesting twists and turns. Most people don't realise how varied the landscape is here and it's a lightly populated part of England. Great Porsche country.

Have you considered a 924 by the way? Some lovely cars knocking about and if you're a fan of the earlier look then the 924, and in particular the S, might be worth not ruling out. I had a brief fling with a 2.0 924 and loved it, mine was a '79 and had some of the earlier 924 features (e.g. slider for heater fan control rather than rotary dial). The early 924s are really coming into their own now as they're laden with period charm, and I've seen more than a few late S models that have caught my eye. There's little to call between the 924s and the early 944. The '44 has three more horseys (from memory) but carries a few Kg more mass. Myself I love the rear haunches of the '44 in my door mirror, and the drama of the shape. The purity of the '24 does something for me though...

I did consider a 924, but I definitely prefer a 944 to be honest. I'd rather wait it out than rush into a purchase.

As a '44 owner I can't fault your logic!
