Nice to read a solution. So many threads just fade and when the car is sorted there is no update.
I do love a happy ending!

Glad to read that you're back up and running!

Just seen that you're in Redbourne...My folks are nearby in Waddingham so when I'm in the area I'll be sure to give you a bell!

Ah yes, do! Both myself and Broady_6 are local to the area and are always happy to meet up for a pint and a chinwag about all things Porsche. The Red Lion in Redbourne is halfway decent these days too, and with a lovely carpark for chin-stroking and bench-racing in... 8)

Great to hear you have your car back running again.
These cars are exception machines I agree.
I had mine off the road for a few weeks recently and really missed driving her.

Where in waddingham are they? Knowing sods law, I probably know them.

Yeah im bloody shattered after that rebuild. Cant wait for a quiet week, oh wait now ive got oil leaks to sort on mine!

The missus cant wait for me to get some DIY done too.

So everyone cross fingers that the puff settles in nicely

The house on the corner of High St/Snitterby Rd. Recently moved from Brigg so not been in Waddingham very long.

Once I've got the 924 in a state that I can drive up, I'll let you guys know!

fire3500 - Good luck with the MOT!

Insurance... done!
MOT... pass, no advisories!
Tax... done!

So, one road legal Puff and an excited / happy me! :D

PAS belt needs tightening, couple of hose clips to replace as they're suboptimal, front pulley to check torque, balance belt to fine-tune and then get 500 miles on before dumping coolant / oil, filling with Mobil and then cracking on for another 500 miles before checking the timing belt tension.

WIN!!!! I owe a certain man a very large beer

Stonking 90 mile drive last night, shame I spent most of it lubricating the roads of northern Lincolnshire. I stay away from the A46 Lincoln to caistor until we next have some heavy rain!

Well, 1000+ miles since it was all bolted back together, taxed and MOT'd... and all is going pretty well.

For the last couple of days I've been down in the South West with Broady having JMG look the cars over and I am very pleased with both the service, the value and the results. Before heading off I'd changed the oil and coolant at 500 miles to ensure that any detritus lingering in there was thoroughly eradicated. Now running G13 coolant and Mobil 1 I'm enjoying steady temperatures and oil pressure and the car is starting to really feel alive again. Jamie at JMG set the engine up after giving it a New Customer Inspection and it feels really perky! The inspection revealed a short list of things to do, but nothing that I didn't know about, and in some cases I already have the parts ready to fit. It is reassuring to have had his expert eye over the car and this gives me great confidence to keep improving. JMG also checked the belts tension as it was nigh on 1000 miles at that point, still sounds a bit washing-machine like, if the car wasn't the Cream Puff it'd have to be the Spin Cycle.

So other than it being filthy (I'm counting on a day of cleaning tomorrow - weather permitting) I'm feeling great about the Puff, but must sort that bonnet shut line out...

One thing I did do today, which is very satisfying is I swapped out the original "lozenge" steering wheel for a three spoke version. I love a three spoke wheel and the 1970s/80s Porsche wheel has appealed since I briefly had a 924 with one fitted. I've been on the hunt for a brown one with a leather rim and for £40 odd I wasn't too hopeful for the condition of the one I had won on eBay, however other than being filthy and requiring a repair on the horn wire it was really cherry, and I'm very pleased with the results of a clean and how it sits with the rest of the cockpit...

I know it's a bit of a subjective thing, and I'll be keeping the four spoke safely to one side as it's in great condition and is original to the car (the original ATS Cookie Cutters are squirrelled away too, for a refurb at some point). I like the personalisation, but that originality can be restored very easily

I genuinely like brown interiors yours looks great! I think the three spoke steering wheel suits as well.

Jason, oh yes... ;)

We met another TIPEC member, Niki, and her very nice S2. Dave, of course, and saw one of the 3.0 turbos, a lovely turbo Cab' and a super-clean 944 that's going to be available for rehoming... Jamie's racecar...

...and a 924 that has ideas *way* above its station :blackeye:
