I have a damaged Bore so am looking for a replacement block. A complete S2 engine would also be considered.

Suggestions welcome.

If the other cylinders and all the pistons are serviceable it may be cost effective to have one Alusil liner fitted.

I'm told it will cheaper to replace the whole engine or the block pistons.

The only people who have an S2 engine are Douglas valley and they want £1200 delivered for it - with no warranty. They say it is from a car with a rear shunt - but they also have another one on their site with a front end shunt. Not sure which one I'd end up with and not keen on them due to their reputation. Too much money for no warranty anyway

Was chasing a noise in my engine and had the cam olloweres etc changed - only to find noise turned out to be damaged piston and bore.

I'm told you need one bore could be redone and a new piston in place. But this is apparently a bit of a compromise as all 4 bores should be done - then you have a the problem if the other 3 pistons don't fit properly due to wear or distortion.

So stuck for the moment and don't want to go the DV route...

I don't blame you, a used engine is a bit of a lottery. There are breakers charging ridiculous prices for worn parts, and repairable cars are being broken because they are worth more in bits. Keep an eye on ebay.

try EMC thay do a good job (got our car in for rebuild) not the cheepest but do a good job
