The accelerator pedal was quite sticky on the 944 I recently purchased also the accelerator cable had been joined, and the standard cable quadrant/cam had been turned upside down to work as a throttle response cam this was catching on the rubber protection of the return spring.

After replacing the cable and the cam, the pedal is a lot smother however there is still a bit of a sticky spot just at the beginning if the travel.

It turns out to be the track on back of the accelerator pedal where the metal bar runs in is a bit worn, its the same on the Turbo I have as well, a bit of grease has masked the problem slightly.

Has anyone else experienced this is there a better part you can use, a common fix???????

Also, check that someone hasn't jacked the car up in the wrong place and distorted that floor as this can also cause the throttle pedal to stick.

I had this, firstly my problem was compounded by the spring missing off the throttle body then I got a rubber hammer and beat the floor around the pedal, things are much better now.

My guess too. Its so likely because the floor under the pedal actually looks as though it is supposed to support a jack, but it isn't and it cannot.
