In case this helps, copied word for word from my 1991 S2 handbook page 46, but my old 1989 2.7 Lux was exactly the same.

Lifting out the sun roof
Before the sunroof is removed it should be cleaned so that it is not scratched and so that your clothing does not become dirty.
1. Turn ignition switch to position 1 (radio) and press rear half of rocker switch until actuators release the roof.
2. Undo front hinges.
3. Lift and remove roof.

I've just had a go on mine. The instruction 'press rear half of rocker switch until actuators release the roof' means to press the part of the button you press to open the roof. With the ignition switch fully on the roof opens. With the ignition switch in position 1 you will see the actuator arms retract into the car bodywork allowing you to just push the roof open. Don't forget to pull the two levers down, one at either end of the front of the roof and ringed in yellow on the photos put up by colt45_gto.

And don't forget.... don't get your clothes dirty!

i tried that one already, position 1 does absolutely nothhing the key may as well be out and on the floor. there is only off, ign and start on this car.

i had to pinch a feed for the radio because all the stock wires are dead as a post on any position, so cant really go off that one either :S

Position 1 turns on the radio and feeds power to the sunroof switch.
If the radio doesn't work in position 1, but works with the ignition full on, then maybe the ignition switch is faulty.
If the radio works in position 1, then check on the back of the sunroof switch for power.

its the micro switches, i have just had a fiddle and had to space the bracket out. but its not right altho it now works and retracts the arms and a close eye now has to be on closing because it will go right past and unlock.

a bit of time and figuring out i should get it right ;)
