Aha good, thought I was going mad there lol! Yes if the shims don't sink into the pistons they are incorrect!

Hope you get it sorted soon, I went through all manner of permutations with the front brakes until I eventually got the squealing to stop. OEM shims in the end were the solution but not cheap at £20 a shim times 4!

Incidentally I have no shims on the rear and they are quiet but the front ones would not shut up until OEM shims fitted.

Cheers

Stuart

That's what I said!! Said stupid cylinders screwed onto backing plate should disappear snuggly into the pistons and the backing plate should then be fixed to the back of the brake pad!

Nice I just had mine refurbished red as well. Where did you get the old school decals from? The decals on my callipers don't look right as they are a more modern logo

Apologies for the delay in closing off this thread (I blame my 1 year old and 3 year old!)

Anyways I contacted Design 911 and got the parts changed - Huge kudos to them as there was over a 12 month period of time from ordering the parts originally and they swapped them no problem

The right part number 95135108903 with sizes of 19.7mm and 27.3mm - Slotted inside the pistons properly and calipers now on the car with new discs. Turns out my car was indeed a 1989 year of manufacture model but wasn't registered till August 1991

I had the disc type shims in two of my calipers, nothing in the other two ... I've elected to run shim-free from now on lol... let's see how that works!!

Don't blame you :o They are freaking extortionate for what they are. I think if I was doing the job again I would try it shim free and see how I get on

As previously stated shim free for me = squeal! Lots of squeal!! Maybe others will have better luck. Incidentally my brakes have started screeching again after spirited use, I am hoping a good copper slipping will cure it. Will need to take the calipers off though because the pads don't slide out when the shims are stuck to the pads! :(
