I bet someone has had this problem and solved it...
THe sunroof on my 944 does what it should ....mostly.. When I turn the key on click the arms try to retract but they don't quite come out of the lugs. If I take the sunroof out and look at it, the arms do the right thing and retract almost completely out of the way but when the roof is in the lugs are too far forward or backward? do I need to move the lugs on the sunroof forward or backward? is there some adjustment.
The sacriledge part isthat the previous owner said to get the roof off, put the sunroof up then just push the arms outward! works but looks like it will eventually break something!

the sunroof can go up or down with the ign on.

for the lugs to move out of the way allowing sunroof removal, ign should be off but the key should be either just in the ign or at pos 1,

Hi,
Thanks, but when the key is at position 1, the lugs don't move out of the way properly, I mean they try to, but it doesn't quite come free. When I try it with the roof off to see whats happening it looks like it should work but the something isn't lining up right...
??

This may help Alex... its a 968 but IIRC essentially the same mechanism..... Tom Bradley has a comprehensive overview with decent pictures....

As long as the cam at the motor stops at microswitch no1 the lugs on the arms should sit on the highest point (the knee) in their recess in the sunroof panel, which in turn roughly equates to two teeth being visible from their housing.

Thanks,
Looks like they are either not quite far enough in (a smidge) or the sunroof lugs need moving forward a touch then. mmm
TBH I'm going to look for the 924 rear catches and make it manual eventually.
