I have a major soft spot for porkers especially the 911 and 944 and since Sarah got her 44 this weekend i have been pondering selling the gto and buy one...but i got a major issue with it....

i love the gto to bits and after getting out of that into the 44 i was waiting for the power to kick in....it didn't happen :( so i would have to go for a 3L version.... but i don't know how much quicker they are in comparison. the gto will tug me from stand to 60 in 4.1 and hurl me up and above 180mph... so i would possibly feel down graded power wise until i get used to it.

i have put the beast on ebay but will probably remove it tomorrow lol i honestly couldn't bear to see it go. but at the same time i want a 44!

my other option is to find a doer upper on ebay for cheap money and sort that out.

financially i couldn't go out and buy one in all honesty, i work from home and earn next to nothing for weeks then hit on a big job and earn something then back to square one. i could go and get a 9to5 but i hate mundane day to day jobs and hate being told what to do and how.

maybe i should buy a bit at a time....a wheel one week a wing the next lol.

i don't know? .....dilemmas!!!

My philosophy is never to get rid of a car that's working!

I think the GTO is turbo'd yes? If it is then the only similar Pork fix will be a 944T. TBH you buy a 944 for the handling which is fantastic, although not slow they aren't the quickest around.

The only way to get that sort of speed from a 944 is to buy a Turbo and go down the ‘dark side’ of modifying it. You can take the performance as far as you like, but it will cost money. Have a look at the sort of thing Promax and Lindsey Racing offer. Some people do amazing things with these old warhorses!

i seriously don't know what to do, if i had a windfall i would buy one and keep the gto. see both cars are as curvy as each other yet the gto is probably nearer to the 911 turbo in terms of performance at possibly a 1/4 the cost to maintain?

My Lux hits 60 in 7 seconds & hits 130. It's 22 years old & has just 140 horses at the wheels. Think your asking a bit much if you expect it to go like a Jap 3 litre turbo thats half its age. I have to say that some 944s can't manage much over 100 at the wheels. Putting it on the rolling road is the best way to check the engine condition & see if you have all the horses it should have. (Mine was down 30 horses despite an impressive service record including a full engine rebuild & new injectors!) The handing is the best bit & cross country they are still very potent.

I have had a few cars faster than my 944, Corrado VR6 and MR2 Turbo spring to mind the most but I have never loved driving anything as much as I do my 944. Yes I'd like smething faster and I will in time, and for me Im not sure weather to go for 944 S2, 944T or 968 but Im in no rush.
