Had the 968 serviced today at my usual independent specialist. Came out with a reasonably clean bill of health :D just two advisories.

The first is a wet gasket near the power steering pump bracket, they advised this be changed when the belts are next done or if it gets worse.

The second was the flexible pipe from the clutch master cylinder to the hard line on the engine is worn, cracked and starting to leak, so this needs doing ASAP.

However they informed me that the pipe is only available from OPC and it's about £80 with the VAT. Looking at it that is a bit pricey for what it is, so before I bite the bullet and buy one does anyone know where to get it cheaper or had one made up somewhere at a reasonable price?

I've checked all the usual parts suppliers and they are all around the £75 mark but I also notice the LHD ones and 944 ones are a fair bit cheaper. Does anyone know if there's much difference?

Any hydraulics place should be able to make you up a nice braided one.

David at Berlyn supplied me with a braided hose for my S when I replaced the master, and it was £30 iirc.

Good Call. :D Just spoke to David and he says if I send him the dimensions and a few photos he'll make me one up for about £25 to £30. Less than half the £69.21 that Porsche quoted me with the club discount! I don't mind paying the extra for genuine parts if its warrented but £70 for a short piece of flexible hose just stung a bit.

I had the same feeling, I think it was around £70 for one for my S. The 8v ones are cheaper, but tbh, a braided flexi is a better solution anyway, and half the price!

I have a spare goodrige braided hose to replace the flexi hose from master to the hard pipe i bought for an s2 but had a problem getting the fittings to work. Took it in to Pirtek and had the whole hose from master to slave made up in braided for £50.
The braided hose to replace the flexi is going spare, if its any good to you pm your address and I will stick it in the post

Just looked at the PET and it's a slightly different part number for the S2. Do you have a photo?

Hi Dave , hope this helps. I am sure it is just a case of getting an adapter from Pirtek. I would have done but thought it better to replace the whole hose and hard line rather than have a join in them.

Cheers. That hose is actually a fair bit different. The 968 hose has a full 180 degree turn in the hard pipe on the end, the end fittings are different (it's male to female on mine) and looks to be quite a bit longer too. Thanks again for the offer but I think I'm best getting one made up to suit rather than putting extra connections in. I didn't honestly thing there would be that much different between them.
