Cattle grids @ PCGB Porsche Pageant @ Chatworth - 29 June 14

Post by Porker »

Hey folks, I know it's not a TIPEC event but does anyone here have experience of whether the PCGB Region 8 folks normally take care to cover the cattle grids at Chatsworth?

I've asked the question on the PCGB forum but the place seems pretty dead so I thought I'd take a punt and see if you lovely folks had any experience
http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.as ... y=&#836280

"Why?" I hear you ask!

Short version: I've found a neighbour who has a 935 replica hidden away in a garage and he's agreed to bring the old girl out for a spin to Chatsworth, but he's nervous about the cattle grids on his super low track setup.

Thanks :)

Chris
PS: If it's not OK to discuss the competition on here then don't worry, I'm not offended if mods need to kill this query - I'm just trying to get a potential new member talked into joining us, and this local show (albeit not a TIPEC show) is a really good chance to reignite his love of his crazy old motor.

well over 450 Porsches drove over multiple cattle grids to get into Beaulieu last weekend.

Can't see why they would be an issue

Haha, ok i'll try to reassure him ;) Shame I was on holiday as I'd like to have attended Beaulieu again. Where there any track cars there? His car is apparently a bit of a boneshaker.

Quite agree with Jason & the metallic green 935 lookalike is as low as many.

Hi :)

My 928 is set as low as possible for my high speed runs and I attended Beaulieu and mine has PRECISELY 2 inches of ground clearance under the front end...

The cattle grids I take slowly and apart from a few rattles , they are fine with 2 inches...

Hope this helps...

All the best Brett :)

Thanks for the advice :)

To be fair the owner took me out in the 935 tonight and he is super paranoid about every lump and bump. Fingers crossed you'll see a mad looking metallica blue 935 replica on Sunday so long as the mot goes ok on Saturday. It is a pukka 1981 car converted with a proper period Zimmerman bodykit in 1984 with all the gubbins. It might even be for sale soon!
