sorry to keep asking for advise but.
got my car back wednesday after recon head and fresh oil cooler and casing,running a hell of a lot better but my oil pressure as dropped from four to five bars to just three but never drops below,a little bit worried.
got 10/40 semi-synthetic oil in at the moment

Is that the pressure at tick over or higher revs?

Three bar at idle when warm is fairly normal I would say.

Yup agreed, mine ticks over at around 3 Bar & rapidly rises to 5 with a few revs. I run 15/50 to try & keep the oil consumption down. Although the pressure is around the same with 10/40....

I use 10W50 and noted that the idle oil pressure went up by around 1 bar swapping from 10W40. Notwithstanding that, it idles at 3 but jumps up with hardly any revs...

my oil pressure is at 5 bar when cold and if any load on engine, when warm at tickover between 3 and 4 bar using mobil 1, so yours sounds about right

It may be a damaged oil pressure sender, it is mounted near the oil cooler.
On my last 944 the oil pressure gauge didn't go above 3 bar and I found a dent in the sender, swapped the sender and up to 5 bar again.
If it wasn't for the fact that I knew I had knocked it whilst working on the car I would have worried about all sorts.
The other possibility is the oil pressure relief valve may be sticking and that is a part of the oil cooler assembly. The valve can stick if the cooler is miss-aligned or if the valve is corroded.
Either way I would take it back to be checked if you paid for the work.
Also why was the oil cooler casing replaced?

i got a complete oil-cooler and casing off another engine James when mine was full of mayo because of the seals going, for a tenner thought it was not a bad idea.
before changing this the oil-pressure never dropped below four even when hot maybe whip it off and check it out.

It could be a pressure relief valve issue then. Their is a special Porsche tool for this to ensure the correct alignment.
