Today.... I actually drove my 924 for the first time. I finished reassembling the brakes, and went for a tricky drive. More here.

Not today but took my Turbo out for the first time in weeks the other day. Happened upon a TVR Tuscan and had a little comparison :) TBH he was edging away from me a little in a straight line, and I was thinking perhaps my car was off colour, but when I checked the stats for the Tuscan perhaps I was a little ambitious  .

You do know that TVR tend to be ambitious in their figures do you not Pauly? Saying that, the Tuscan are a damned quick machine!

As for me, I have been piling on even more miles onto my Turbo!

Yes, I've toyed with buying a 400 Wedge or maybe a Griff for years so I know the Rover engine doesn't make anything like the factory claimed. I'd say the Tuscan is well over 300 bhp though and it's a lot lighter than a 944T. It made me think about fitting my big turbo and a MAF kit.

I FINISHED HOOKING UP THE ENGINE AND STARTED IT!!!

Excuse my excitement, it's been 4 years since I've owned that car and it arrived with a dead engine so it's quite exciting that it now runs.

It doesn't move yet, but it does run!

Thanks. It wasn't an easy task since the immobiliser had packed up in the 4 years that the car sat around unused but once I dealt with that it fired up and after a little while it was running nice and smoothly.

Now all I need is some money so I can buy the next round of parts for it.

I understand your excitement. As you can see, I also ran a car for the first time, and even managed to drive it.

Today I have removed the inlet manifold from my S in the hope of finding the cause of my poor idle.

Will pressure test tomorrow but have so far found one loose fitting, a cracked breather and the ISV appears to be stuck. So hopefully with those bits sorted my idle will be sorted!

My 944 lux started easily but as soon as the throttle was opened it died :( so started it again and pumped the throttle up and down quickly and it fired normally and ran normally.
Methinks the throttle sensor is not comunicating with the brain.

With the engine off, from under the bonnet, can you hear the microswitch click just as you move the throttle away from fully closed? Mine failed due to oil contamination that had leaked past failed oil seals on the throttle butterfly shaft.

Well I finally got my 1985 924 back on the road after 14 years on SORN....had it totally recommission end, full service, new brakes, fluids, cam belt, filters, etc... and took it for a blat up and down the A303... runs very well, but have got far too used to the 'grunt' of my 968, so may be a relearning curve for a few days..... :)

Well today the 968 passed its MOT. Always a relief.

One advisory though, rear brake imbalance. The tester said that it was stranger as first one side was low then then the same side would bit hard and the other side was lower. So it sounds to me like the rear caliper plates are lifting but not quite enough to trap the pads completely just yet. Time to get the M030 calipers reconditioned and get on with the upgrade I think.
