Well, I did the RS experience at porsche centre silverstone today. The 3.6 was out for repair so I drove a Cayman S. I thought it was a very capable car ,which it is, until I got into the 3.8RS. Wow, what a car. Then the 4.0, wow again. I preferred the 3.8. I am no track legend, but the steering felt more 'manly' and I preferred the gearbox, plus the 3.8 seemed to have better front end grip. The 4.0 sounds brilliant, well, they both do. I believe I now understand what people mean when they say 'connected' to a car. I was a bit nervous beforehand given the reputation etc, but they aren't scary, just felt really natural to drive fast, there's a trust they give you. Sounds weird, it's something I haven't yet worked out how to describe. But I like it, whatever it is!!! I will never afford one, but boy do I have loads of want in my life at the moment. Purchased a euro millions ticket on the way back just in case it's my lucky day!! Certainly felt like it until I left Silverstone.

Sounds like I'll need to try and get myself down there. :D

For the cost of the PEC, you could have a few track days at Knockhill :)

I was thinking more about trying to sweet talk OPC into giving me a free ticket. Even the tyre monkeys at my local Kwikfit got free tickets from Michelin and had a shot in new Porsches. Must be someone willing to let me do it.

Did I ever post the in car video of me doing knockhill in the Jaguar XKRS?

Yes it was pricey but it was a 40th present from my wife. Mind you, it's the only time I would ever get to drive those cars and they were fantastic. So if you can stretch to it, I would recommend it, for me the value was there. Shame they no longer do the self drive in your own cars.

OPC Bolton sent me an invite to PEC the other day to drive a 991 Carrera, a 991 Carrera 4, and a 991 turbo. Which was nice of them.

It's a great facility down at Silverstone.
