My "cat-back" Dansk stainless exhaust became very rattly so I got out the disc cutter and went exploring !

Found the rear silencer had eaten the packing material

I got the exhaust repacked and welded the patch back on

Job done !

Why does everybody rave over these exhausts?
I have a 2 year old one on my car and it broke its brackets at the welds before I bought the car so I had to weld it up as my first job (1 year gaurantee).
The wrong material is used for the pipework IMHO as its very shiny which shows its high nickel content (Ithink), this makes it brittle and prone to stress cracks.
Just the boxes should be made with this.
My track prepped Dolly Sprint, I put a stainless exhaust on it in 1997 and its still on it now it lives in the USA in Cincinatti, that car has done thousands of trouble free miles on one exhaust.

I have one of these back boxes on my car. I have a rattle from under the car that's driven me mad trying to locate it for the last year....I also have a cracked weld on the rear wedge shaped support that runs from the pipe to the edge of the back box....

I'm thinking an original style rear box is in order...any one have one foran early Lux?

best way i've found is to sod it off and buy something better in my case a standard item half the price and ten times better quality

There are a few people who do not rave about them and do comment on welds being poor if you look hard enough.

However, maybe I am reading too much into things but is that exhaust for a 924 (the part number may be throwing me off)? The S2 items tend to have 3 exhaust silencer over the 2 a 924 and 2.5 8Vs come with.

All I can say, mine was bought from ebay in 2006, so its at least 8 years old now and it its quiet, leak free and solidly mounted. Maybe more recently the quality has dropped?

I also noted that most of the 924 racers at the BRSCC final race at Donnington had them...............but that may be because the baffles get blown out making them straight through

I have one on my supercharged S2 for 3-4 years and it has been faultless - and this is a track car!

same as mine on my 924 first one lasted 3 months got a second one under warranty and that did the same and the 3rd one didn't even fit, the back box was rotated about 45 degrees off center. total waste of time and money.

As been said before I am sure there are two qualities of Dansk in the market place. Mine has a good quality brand etching on the box, far superior to the one in the original posters first photo. Mine has been on for nearly a year/5000+ miles and once the road grime is wiped off is still in as shiny and solid condition as the day it was fitted.

Just checked through the history folder and found a bill from Strasse in Oct 2004 when Dansk exhaust was fitted.

Their appeal was in their low price. Mine cost £125 delivered.

No idea the age of mine or its vendor, it came in the boot of a 924 turbo 'project' car. Here's a link to large pic when it was going on. It was off the car in the last week or so and is still in great condition. http://www.flickr.com/photos/16693103@N ... 068608674/ Now I've said that it'll crack and fall to bits!!

PS I hate this photo as the rear end of the my car needs a makeover urgently, especially the exhaust heat shield.
