I bought this from the forum a couple of months ago.

1996 Porsche Boxster 2.5 - with Rebuilt engine at 133k miles by Elite Porsche + upgraded 2003 Porsche heated glass rear screen and double lined hood + personal plate

Ocean blue metallic exterior with full grey leather interior, original Becker CD/ radio (including Becker bluetooth handsfree microphone plus Becker iPhone/ iPod connection), winter mats, Traction Control , Air Conditioning, air bags, electric windows, heated seats, c/locking, etc. Personalised plate which is included and makes the car's age hard to guess (even for Porsche enthusiasts) because of the upgraded and later Porsche 2003 glass rear screen double lined hood!

This was one of the first Boxsters ever made In Germany (not Finland like some), and has had an engine rebuild by Elite Porsche in May 2010 at 133k miles, costing previous owner over £6500, which was a major factor for my originally choosing this car above all others on the market - if you've done your research you will know about IMS and rear main oil seal issues and the risks associated with a high mileage Porsche engine, and note again the professional Porsche Indy rebuild cost above which cost more than the current value!

Other recent history/ receipts includes: new water coolant tank (a well known issue), new rear shock absorbers, various front and rear suspension items, wheel bearings, two new A/C condensor radiators (another well known issue), front and rear brake pads, engine oil and filter changes, Parr Porche air filter, pollen filter, ignition switch (another well known issue), Bosch battery (5 year guarantee), hand brake microswitch (another well known issue), upgraded Type B hood gear mechanism (a big issue and massive improvement over the original Type A) and wiring and relay to accommodate upgraded heated rear glass screen double lined hood and frame (original Porsche 2003), 4 x near new Porsche N-rated Bridgestone Potenza tyres which are essential to enable the very best and stunning road holding that these cars provide and recent wheel alignment by Precision Porsche.

I also have a spare set of 16" alloys with matching Porsche spec N2 Michelin tyres that are available by negotiation.

MOTed till Nov 2014.

After reading the above, and those that have done their research, you will know that all of the usual and worrying problems that can occur on these older models have all recently been sorted, so this is a safe and perfect buy for the first time Porsche owner or in fact for any Porsche enthusiast, but please do bear in mind that this is, after all, a 17 year old car, so don't expect concours bodywork as there are the usual minor blemishes for a car of this age. That aside, you will not be disappointed with this excellent car, sensibly priced at £3750 taking into account overall 154k mileage (but take into account the work that has been done and don't be put off by this mileage! An engine rebuild and current condition is far more important than a possibly faked book full of historic stamps!) Professional inspections very welcome, but test pilots, tyre kickers, or insulting low offers are not! Since this is a reluctant sale and a good solid buy, I expect this car to sell quickly at this realistic and fair price, so no dreamers or wheeler dealer types please! Need I also say scammers need not apply!

** The car has recently developed a slight problem with the roof, a cable broke. I have replaced the cable but the gears need to be re-set so that the roof folds in time with the lifting of the rear cover. Not a difficult job but one I don't have time for at the moment. I will try to get this fixed in the very near future or reduce the price to allow for this defect.

May take an interesting car in exchange/px

I shall not lie. As much as I adore the 951, if I was one car less than what I am now due to a sale (Stag or 944) this would have been very tempting.
