Sadly put the car in the garage for the winter.
After a year with two family funerals and closing the business I've run with my brother (one of the funerals), I'm going self-employed and having the 944 on the road is an expense I can't afford.

It's got 99812 miles on the clock but to get it back on the road next year will require belts, probably a water pump and some tinkering. Already had new wheels and tyres fitted this year and still very solid.
Got a replacement rear window to fit when time allows.

Put it away with a water and oil check, de-humidifier is just clearing the damp interior so hopefully will stay in good shape and I can run the engine up regularly.

Anything else that I need to do to look after it?

Had new castor mounts and HT leads fitted, followed by a dig about to see where to make a start with the planned winter overhaul.

The fuel lines are a joke (pic to follow in a week or so) so I need to do a bit of reading on here to source and replace those.

Some people like to jack it up to save the tyres deforming, but if you keep the pressures up it should be fine. Perhaps when you start it up, roll it out and back into the garage. Let it run up to temperature.

If you want some help doing the belts and pump change, I've messed it up enough times to know exactly how to do it properly for you! It's possible in one (long) day.

I love that! (Although to achieve true 70's ness there needs to be some brown in there...), although with this and your colourful mods to "The Hoff", maybe you should change your name to Dulux?

Hello all

Got some stuff done to my new S2 over the weekend. Not much, but it all helps. Checked it over under the bonnet and fitted new plugs and distributor cap-the old one was totally goosed. Cleaned 1/2 a ton of leaves from the scuttle, cleaned up and vaselined all the earths I could find and cleaned the throttle body. Made a list of things to do/bits to get and then gave it a good hoover/clean. Barely got to drive it though :(

Been out for a drive today, got back and replaced the hatch pins. Hatch shuts nice and firm now so should keep the weather out. Still have a list as long as my arm for parts and things to do to it though!

Washed the 924 for the first time since I bought it and therefore removed all the autumn slime.

Tested many things on the 944 to try to make it work again.

Me again! Today my neighbour offered me free welding in exchange for computer repairs, so he patched up a frilly bit on the 924 whilst I overhauled the drum brakes. All accomplished at 1 degree above freezing, whilst the trees slowly dripped on us.

To add insult to injury, the milk was off, so even the tea and coffee were sh!t.

I picked up my car from Eddie at Silvertune on Thursday after having some work done a last, new Spax -30mm suspension all round (£380), upgraded to braided brake lines all round(£62), all old rubber bushes removed an replaced with Powerflex on front(8) and rear(6)(£327), and the 4 main beam rubber units from chassis to body replaced - on the shelf at the Porsche Reading for a lovely £600.44p, good for a 30 year old car I think to be on the shelf. Also needed a bit of welding for one of the mounts, all clean and tidy now, undersealed where needed and a full geomentry set up. Went out to the Worlds End pub and it all feels a lot, lot better than before. Steering is straight again, no dragging to the left and braking is improved. No problem with firmer bushes when driving and feels quicker in the corners now all is tighter as not much free play at the wheel.

Bit of a sad day for me, insurance changes over to my new daily driver this afternoon so went for my last drive in the square dash

After six years trouble free motoring it's been a hard decision but bikes, kayaks, camping, needing a mobile store room and impending money pit looming on the horizon it's time to close that chapter of 944 ownership. It's parked in the corner of the yard for now but I have an offer on the table from one of the breakers for near on what I paid for it!
