HI,

My coupe 944 is leaking like a sive in foot well behind drivers seat?. Has anyone ides,s where it could be coming from?. Last year it done the same and i fixed the drainpipe from sunroof and seemed to stop the leak but checked today and seems to drain out from the roof ok.

But today it was about half inch in footwell so big leak! ugh.

I had the same problem last year, mine turned out to be the inner seal on the sunroof, the small one that goes round the opening on the roof of the car, the old one looked ok but was not gripping tight enough on one of the corners.I tried lifting it up and applied clear sealent round it then pushed it back on but still leaked. A new one cured my flood behind the drivers seat. :D Also the small side window rubber seal has been known to cause the same problem. Good luck!

If you have got that much water inside then I doubt it will be the sunroof seal. Besides Im sure your seals wouldn't suddenly go from being water-tight to leaking like a sieve overnight.

Its more likely to be a sudden split of a drain tube [or possibly the drain tube has come off in the petrol filler cap area although im not sure if this would just direct water into the boot ]

Likely place for water to ingress is from behind the engine firewall where the heater motor/wipers live. there are drain holes in the bulkhead to allow water to drain to the engine bay and if these block or you have a lot of leaves etc. behind the heater motor it can hold up water and it will leak directly into the footwell through the heater motor seal, if its a later car remove the plastic cover over the heater motor and wiper area and have a look for debris which forma a nice dam when it gets caught in the motor and wiper wiring then the water builds up and leaks directly into the footwell area. It could be if someone has had the heater motor off for repair they have not got all the bolts back in as some are very awkward to get to and then the water goes through the bolt hole. This time of year is bad for falling leaves so maybe this is why it has happened suddenly.

Yep I have the same problem although its my passenger side rear footwell & ive still to get to the bottom of where its coming in from, may look at changing the exterior sunroof seal as a starting point & go from there then.
