Noisy headlight

I can't find any other posts about this has anyone had any experience of a headlight levelling motor making a noise when the lights are up?

I would think if the motor is running with the lights up and the position switch not being moved then it must be a problem with the switch maybe shorting between positions or dirty or a short in the feed to the motor or damp in the motor. On my car the motor only runs when you adjust the position switch the stops once the lamps have moved, not sure if there is any feedback from the lamp to the motor to confirm the light is at the correct position I would not think so but if there is it could be the lamp is not moving far enough or the motor thinks it is not. A quick fix would be to disconnect the motors with the lamps set to the highest position, I do not think I have ever had to set mine on anything other than the highest position.

I think it's just one of those parts that doesn't get used then plays up when it does, the noise stops if I wiggle the motor about. I'm booked in with my local fitter next week for some other work so I've disconncted the motor for now rather than risk it burning out.
