I agree with Steve. I dont know what Id pay for it but you certainly know what youd accept.

Vendors are usually reluctant to suggest a price because theyre concerned that someone would have offered more, but it never works that way unless people regularly make decent offers for the car.

Of course, your ideal price may be low in our opinion, but even if thats the case, the worst that can happen is that someone will offer to buy it at the price that you wanted... :D

/\ This.

You're the only one who knows what you'd accept for it. Trouble with threads like this is you can get people suggesting a value who have no interest in actually buying the car.

I think if it was a factory Turbo, in this condition and colour id expect about £8500.

A lux is worth about £3500.

So somewhere in between is this cars value. I don't know what id want, but I do know how much I need to get the next car.

It's a shame cars aren't worth the sum of their parts.

BMW Z3.
I need to buy a German one because they did not sell the coupe here. Well, they did but only as a 3.2/M3.
I want a 2.8, it will be LHD which fits in with my future living plans.

I love this car. Watching your build thread over on Retro Rides was what inspired me to buy a 944. I even bought a set of Azevs for it (but only in 16" et 23). It would be a shame to see it broken, but you have alluded to it yourself, I'm sure it is probably worth more in parts. Since I bought my 944 I've been trawling eBay for bits for mine & I've seen the mad prices that some parts make.

I know, from your RR thread, that you swing over and back between selling it and keeping it. Sounds like you have a move to Germany or Poland planned? I suppose reshelling into a LHD 944 would be a bit deja-vu? Or build a 944 shooting break to rival the BMW? :D

At the end of the day lots of people will say don't break it, but I suppose if you want to be brutal about it, you have to maximise the return on all the time you put into it. The ideal situation though is that someone pays a premium for it based on it's fame. That would be the best outcome I think.

Pity I'm broke myself or else I'd be first in line to buy the wheels.

its a nice car, im actually looking for a new car for trackdays next year. I have sold my evo, and I have my eye on a 968, but I have always liked this car, or another 944t. I have funds ready to buy. so pm me or email me info@nicksonmotorsport.co.uk with a price you want for this car, and I may be interested in buying it.

cheers
nick

A tough decision mate.

As I said last time this car is a unique creation of yours. But if that is what is required to create another unique car then maybe sell it. Will you have same amount of time to devote to a new car as this one? Looks like you have put many hours into it.

Sounds like you may be heading out of the uk. I'll have to look for new mechanic.

Mine is still running well by the way.

Thank you for the compliments about the car.

I do swing in and out of selling it, it is hard as I do need to move it on - but its also got sentimental value and its worth less than it should be.
However, the car is too old and requires too much time and up keep for what I use it for, I need a more modern car, but still a special one.
I was thinking if a few people said what they would expect it to be worth, I could set rough a budget for BMW hunting.

I had a few PMs offering to buy the car, I will keep them in mind but I am not ready to move it on just yet, just want a rough value, and the car is not ready either. I need to finish the water pump job, and then start on valve stem seals it also needs a speedo sensor (the other one is somewhere on the M25)

I do plan to move to Poland soon, so parts would be even more difficult to get.

I don't fancy LHD conversion or building another, I don't enjoy spannering enough for that.

Duncan, there are a few other guys in the area, and they can probably beat the silly labour rate's of my greedy boss!
Wont need much time for the BMW, wheels . drop and an exhaust is all I have planned. Its building the house that is going to eat the time!
Glad the car is running well.

Aaaaaaaaaargh, my wallet needs this like a hole in the ballbag but this would make the perfect accompaniment for my early black rally car. In fact I can see them together now holding hands. One at home on the track, one at home in the forest. Like Romeo & Juliet but much prettier.

It would be a very difficult decision for you to make but if/when you are ready to sell then drop me a line...

Ben

It's probably my favourite 944 about. You'll see more money breaking it than selling it for sure unless someone is willing to pay silly money for it.

The only draw back being that breaking it may take a while to sell all the parts

What happened to the eBay sale? Wasn't this list on eBay awhile ago. Or am I mistaken?

Very tastefull modified car. Very in keeping with the Porsche desgin. I can't see it been worth more then stock turbo just due to the fact its modified. However if you put a 924 gt carrea front end on it and its closer to a replica but with better profomance.
