Whats a 924 cab

A 924 cab is even rarer than a 911 with a tow bar :D

Ah, seeing as we are having fun here....

WHAT?!?! My Turbo? For sale? You never told me that!!!

A few bits and pieces out of the garage you said...

Anyway...

Rarer than a 911 with a Towbar... well, at least our 924 Cabrio project was dragged home behind a 944!!! Photo's of that too...
The cab has been in the bodyshop for over eighteen months now... and has been written up in Porsche Post... at least as far as it has progressed so far...

So... the '44... and it's value... I guess any car is worth what some-one is prepared to pay for it... or alternatively, how much money some-one is prepared to turn down for it... Even at £5k I'm kind of thinking... I wouldn't get another the same... I know it inside out... as you know by now... mostly inside of the greasy bits... Claire knows the outside much better. In truth, after the repairs, it came out of the bodyshop better than it went in. I honestly cannot remember what the repairs cost me... and admittedly I did a lot of the monkey work finding a replacement wing and door etc... I think I may even have hung it... But yes, we have plenty of photos...

Good to see some familiar names on here, hopefully I'll catch up with you at a PCGB meeting (barbeque next Thursdays meeting... come along...), one of the various events, relayed messages on Titanic through Claire, or some-where... In the mean-time... I need to go and do some over-time!!!

Best regards,

Tref.

In this case it would appear to be economical write-off rather than structural, therefore not so relevant.

I don,t know the car or the seller, and I'm not interested in an early Turbo. Good luck with the sale Claire, and if you want me to delete my opinions here just say so.

This car was so good I chose it to appear on the PCGB stand at MPH '06. The professional detailing team didn't even bother touching it, as they felt it was near perfect and there was nothing they could do to improve it.

Tref has been around the Porsche world for a long time, and is well known for being more than a little fastidious in his attitude to the maintenance of his numerous cars.

I'd respectfully suggest you ask a few people offline about things before you go posting replies! This car was conservatively valued at £8k if I remember rightly, and the minor repairs should only add to that value. It's a shame that there aren't more cars of this standard out there, you mention the others I'd compare it to and you don't like them either?? If you're really not interested in a good car, either buy a poor one and then we can watch you spend money on it or give up!

You are entitled to your opinion perhaps you will extend to me the same courtesy, as for my buying preference if I want your further input I will let you know.

Best Regards.

This is becoming a silly argument and people are getting wound up. What does it matter what it's history is as long as it's been looked after mechanically and repaired correctly?

My S2 always gets compliments because of it's condition. It's September 1991, Cobalt Blue, grey leather, 178000 miles (still on the original clutch), one owner before me and I've had it since November 2005 and done 40000 miles in it as it's my everday driver. The car was on Used Car Roadshow and the guy wanted £5700. I found it later in Autotrader. I paid £4800 for it. Later my wife paid to have the wheels refurbished. Now the secret...

In May 2006 I was going to collect my daughter from somewhere near here. I stopped in a lane because a load of cows were coming towards me. On the verge, on my nearside, were two bulls. They started fighting, and before I knew it they had broadsided into my car. I took it to the official Porsche repair centre not too far away from here. New front wing, new door, new mirror, rear wing repaired (probably filled in) complete side of the car resprayed. Cost was £4500. With my wife's consent (you always need your wife's consent for these things!) I agreed to pay and have the rest of the car resprayed. As they started to dismantle things they started to break things (usually because of age). They replaced the front fog / driving lights with new ones, repaired any rust and did a complete windows out respray. Unfortunately it took them thirteen weeks to complete the job. The guilt trip they were on because of the length of time was the reason for me only paying £800 for the job - remember this is the official Porsche repair shop and the original quote was £2500 for my part. So, as well as new front lights, which they said are £500 a pair, the car has had the new bodywork and a complete respray and had £5300 spent on it.

Had I not asked them to repair it they would have written it off for economical reasons, I would have bought it back and had it repaired and then had to tell everybody it was Cat C. It isn't Cat C because it was repaired and not written off. I can quite rightly sell it at the full going rate.

I don't need to tell anybody this story, so I guess what I'm saying is what I started with - what does it matter? Give the girl a break.

Anybody wants to see the car then I might be turning out tonight at the local meet.

No more arguments please.

John, it isn't an arguement. This is a discussion about a view a lot of people have as regards on the Register cars & others have pointed out how unrealistic it is.
Paul N. also pointed out how wrong it is to make judgemental statements about a car on the basis of what's written without seeing or getting independant comments on it.
I suspect we all feel Pauly's expectations are unrealistic, but he has every right to have those expectations, whether that postpones him being a Porsche driver in the foreseeable futue is entirely up to him!
I might add he needn't be rude in his responses, when someone gives him some useful input!

This is an open(ish) forum & if I'd have felt this was degenerating into an arguement that had no value then I'd have sharpened my moderators eraser! As it is I feel it adds value to a fairly common query.
