Interesting! Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be sure to speak up if it comes back but hopefuly as you suggest, any foreign bodies are now filtered or stuck fast.

cheers

I found engine shops don't seem to rush their work, but charge a Kings ransom for the privilege of waiting forever for completion.

Self same issue put my second hand head into a machine shop and after a successful pressure test and finding a spring broken have had to wait since end May and still no head back, waiting on exhaust valve guides coming from Germany so same issue missed the whole Summer.

Gave me the chance to tidy up some bodywork though, put the wheel arch liner back in and fitted lower trims looks good, charged battery and started it today for the first time in months only to find it leaking petrol from behind the liner where my replacement flexibles (had the lines changed a few years ago) meet the steel lines I hope it is just a loose joint but now have to remove everything I have just put back on bugger.

Just replaced; Engine mounts, sump gasket, gearbox mount, some fuel & brake lines, front ARB polybushed, replaced valve for heater control, rear suspension & castor mounts (admittedly it was the garage that did it not me).

Slowly getting everything done. :D

Claened and polished the 924 ready for the show. Hoovered out the inside and found confetti from my son's wedding. That was over a year ago!!

Still, gave the inside the full 20 minute treatment.

I need to make sure those last few rear-end leaks are gone! If it doesn't rain on Sunday (heaven forbid) then I bet we'll get moist on the PPP trip at the end of September, so it needs doing either way. Nottingham weather is definitely more autumn than summer today

Last night I did the hosepipe test and climbed inside the boot, so I know it's the top edge of the rear light clusters, not: the tailgate glass, or pins, or the main edge seal, or the latch-drains, or indeed the spoiler drains contributing.

Rear light clusters have been removed and a fan heater installed. Tomorrow's job is to reseal those lights with sticky foam.

Does anyone know if you can still buy old fashioned thin liquid windscreen sealing glue that will run around the edge-joint and make a transparent extra seal? that's my backup plan, if I can find some...

Today has been one of those days..... Took car to bodyshop as they needed to go over car and make a list of slight imperfections from respray, when leaving the bodyshop it was discovered I had air leaking form the rear drivers tyre.

Luckily there was a tyre shop 10 mins up the road. Pulled in and the tyre had a tear across the tread!! tyre shop repaired and asked them to re balance front wheels. (previously done at halfords and no good).... got on motorway and at 60 mph had that shakey wheel feeling again. turned back and asked them to look at, and turns out one of the tyres is ever so slightly out of shape. as im leaving tyre shop I spotted a nail in another tyre! Luckily that was removable with no leaks!!

Starting to wonder what else the 944 has in store for me this week-end!! LOL

Now i'm prepping for an interior clean & glass clean, & maybe start on the engine bay of I can be bothered!

Stick with it Phil :) ...think of it as a very needy but hellishly beautiful girlfriend!

My news is that I seem to have leak-free rear lights now. Woohoo :D

Now it's time to start scrubbing for Gaydon... B)

Cleaned the 968 ready for Gaydon tomorrow. Also tried to get the drivers side door handle off the 944 and managed to slice my thumb on something sharp in the door. So gave up and went for a plaster.

Thanks for the encouragement.... Ended up pasting the rear spoiler with some auto glym.... I used peanut butter on it last weekend. It looked good then, but noticed today it had worn off!!

See you at Gaydon ...

Boiled Linseed Oil knocks spots off everything else I've tried to keep the rubber spoiler looking good, last ages and cheap £3 odd on fleabay for small sample bottles.

Use it on a dry day apply with a sponge, a little goes a long way and do not get any on the paintwork or glass if you do take it off quick. After a couple of goes it's good for 6-8 weeks outside, beads up in the rain and doesn't run either.

But did all the cleaning help you sell it Andy?

I was looking round it earlier and it looks like its worth every penny of the asking price.
