Very tidy S2! 8) Try a club sport steering wheel, very comfy

Welcome along by the way!

Thanks! I was thinking CS steering wheel, but I've got an old boss type wheel that my dad rescued from a 924 in 1991.

Image.

Leather's dried out at the spokes on the back, a bit of feeding will sort that out. It's supposedly a momo but there's no branding anywhere on it. When it was on the 924, it had a rubber cover over the spokes with a porsche logo center cap.

Looks like one of the club sport replica wheels. I think it's Atiwe that make them.

Hi everyone - getting to grips with my 944S - a recent ebay purchase!
Sold my GTV Spider, to part fund this - GTV was a nice car but missed driving a 924/944.
It is a 1988 S model - showing approx 145 K. Engine runs fine, smooth box, sitting on Boxster alloys(?), porsche script handles and has the rear undertray which I believe was original fitment when new I think?

Has/had lots of issues that I working my way through:

Sunroof - now fixed
Headlights - now fixed
Rear wiper - now fixed- spindle worn so shimmed
Some rot in the rear of the sills - filler removed, new metal welded in and repainted. It is NOT pretty but it is solid now. Sills otherwise very good.
Cd fitted - for a bargain £12
Cam chain tensioner replaced
Will be doing the belts asap
Interior tidied up - pretty stained and smelly from being stood for a number of years
Replacement steering wheel fitted - original leather completely shot

To do:
Belts
Tidy up sills
Central locking works only on open (on NS)
Keep scrubbing the interior!
Has oil leak from oil sender area
Replace struts all round (Hatch & Bonnet)
Replace footwell carpet trims
Replace hatch carpet area
Some paint issues on bonnet (looks like over polishing)
Engine bay is being tidied up but lots of cobwebs, debris under the plastic cowl cover
Rear C pillar trims in poor shape after leaks from the sunroof

I've had a number of 924, 924 turbos, 944 2.7 and 944 S2 before - so the S is an interesting drive. Has to be wound up a bit, but still drives really well in higher revs.

Blew the cobwebs out of her today with a couple of mates. Snapped this during a stop off to enjoy the view

Now it's off the "for sale" shelf I've spent a little time polishing up the freshly re-metalled '84... it's bloody lovely actually and I think the right one is being retained.

Also gave the interior a bit of a spruce-up.

It was twilight and these are phone pics, so apologies for the graininess.

And with a winter of sorting out nice and gratifying jobs ahead of me, and the prospect of a dual-944 raid on Germany in the Spring I'm feeling very fired up... :)

Hi Dave,

She looks lovely.

Apparently red is the fastest colour (thought I'd get in early with that one  )

All the best,

RDO

Just spent ages going through this thread, I'd forgotten what a good looking car the 944 is!

Looks just like my old 944S even down to the 16" cup wheels, very nice
