After Prescott and VSCC Donington ,one or two people said that they didnt really know much about Frazer Nash cars.Well,in the early 1920s Godfrey and Nash made GN cars,Godfrey went off to form HRG and Archie Frazer Nash made cars under his own name.Although he was a brilliant engineer by all accounts he wasnt much of a businessman and got into financial difficulties, when in stepped the Aldington brothers led by Harold(Aldy) Aldington. They took over the business side of things and Archie continued to make the cars which Aldy and his brothers raced and sold, using various engines including Anzani,Meadows,Blackburne,Bristol and BMW. Eventually after the second world war,AFN was formed and later they became the first importers of Porsche cars to the UK and AFN later became Porsche Cars GB,which is the connection for us Porsche fans.More information can be found on http://www.frazernash.co.uk where you will see on the home page a picture of a car we found in the paddock at Donington, the owner of which told us that his car was one of fourteen of which only one was not accounted for ,this being known as the Erroll Flynn car as it was originally sold to him but its whereabouts are unknown to this date. There are lots of pictures on the website, also a good book to read is "From chain drive to turbocharger" by Dennis Jenkinson(DSJ) which chronicles the whole story with lots of really interesting anecdotes.Hope this is of interest!!
