I took delivery last week and what a piece of kit this is.

A Golf should not be powered by a V6 3.2 engine, at 1000 revs doing 20 mph in 6th gear it picks up without any rattles or hesitation.

The 4 Motion system keeps it planted through the corners and the burble from the exhaust is addictive.

An avearge of 19 mpg for the 600 miles covered so far might be an issue for the tree huggers. :twisted:

I know what you mean: a few years ago I was giving my 944Lux, what I thought was some welly on the B645 from Kimbolton to Higham Ferrers when I saw this black dot in the rear view mirror, a few bends later and it was up my tailpipe, a bl**dy Golf! Within moments it had overtaken to show me its 3 litre, 4Motion badge. Some motor.
Just watch out for Northants Plod unmarkeds.

V good car, the R32 has few faults.
Never owned one my self, but friends have had both types. Mk4 and 5.
The only thing is running costs, like you said.
Do you have the big seats? And which color have you chosen?

Standard seats and Metallic black so it looks just like any other golf. Apart from the blue callipers and the twin pipes :wink:

Work insisted I had to have a fully funded car, I would have prefered to opt out. Hence a car that is a bit thirsty :shock:

Dont think i have ever done 50mph on the motorway in my R, it doesnt like going that slow.

Congratulations on your new car. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I have been enjoying mine. 7 months (and 14,000 miles) into the ownership experience it's still a lovely place to be.

I have noticed that the engine has freed up nicely as it passed 10,000 miles and the DSG box is a joy for long motorway journeys whilst still being fun on the back roads. I will be getting the APS Stage 2 treatment on Thursday so that should increase the grin factor.

So far the only down side has been a slight tendency to understeer - which may be fixed by a visit to Chris at Centre of Gravity (and, of course, the prodigious thirst!).
