Well over the course of the past 6 months ive given a few of my VW friends the P bug. This week one of them fell ill and bought 944 S2 Drop head. So Wednesday evening we started playing poking around each other cars. trying to find the clunk on mine we found two other faults.

My rear exhaust hanger had cracked so Ive welded that back on and he said when following me If im hard on the throttle and at high revs I had a small puff of oil. But not from the exhaust, it comes from the drivers side, I had a look under and it appeared to be coming from the oil pressure sender, I managed to get 1/2 a turn on it but he said it still makes the tinyest puff off oil.

He also said it appears when I lift off, it sound exactly what you would expect a waste gate to behave like but being a non turbo I dont have one.

Im not to concerned as the oil level hasnt moved in 2000miles but obviously I like to sort it.

Anything anyone's come across before?

Ive also got my new steering wheel back from the cobblers, its from a later car but it feels very nice and the stitching I had done its pretty good too. Ill put a photo up later

Not a problem I've come across before Broady, maybe worth just replacing the washer on the sender if you think it's still leaking. You haven't got a leak from the oil filer by any chance?

I havent I did check there and its dry. the oil starts appearing from around the height of the pressure sender and I cant find an other oil seals at that height in that area. I just need to check the oil cooler jacket its self at some point tomorrow.

But it must be such a small amount of oil but its landing on the hot exhaust and burning very quickly making the black cloud

Passed it's MOT. 2 advisories, right rear tyre near limit and left rear tyre near limit!! Wearing nice and even although don't seem to get long out of Toyo T1-R's at the back. I have put T1-S's on the front and they've hardly worn at all. Prob got a thousand miles left in them for me to deliberate over my next choice of rear rubber!

If anyone has a bargain pair of decent 245/45/16's give me a shout.

Stuart

Just drove it and drove it and drove it. Bright sunny day, early square dash and Sussex A and B roads make a magical combination :D

Well as mines outside at the moment because ive got another project on the go.

I used a tailored cover-zone stormforce cover which ive got for my VW type 3 and its a pretty close fit on the 944 and works a treat. If anyone is looking for a cover for their 944. These are highly recommended!

Thanks for the offer. If the Conti's had 6mm I would take them! And I'm not making Silverstone on Saturday, it's a long way from Glasgow!!

I fitted a new wind break from classic additions.

Fantastic difference, and good quality.

They are at silverstone over the week end.

Recommend a visit

Well not exactly today but over the last few weekends I have stripped the stonechip paint off the off side sill to discover there was next to no rust just water behind the rubbery stuff, welded a repair into the lower rear quarter, treated and coated the inner sill and repaired the lower front wing! All filled and ready for paint over the next week...... Then it all starts again on the other side
I will try and take pictures for the other side
