hi Jezzy
You are not alone, I felt the same way when I dicided to get my old 928 going after being being laid up for over 10 years in dads tiny garage and was being used as a work bench!!! However without having access to a bottomless money pit and not being a mechanic by trade as well as only having a limited tool kit at times was very stressful, pursaverance and lots of tea(oh and a very understanding and resourceful and helpful wife) seemed to be the remedy. Now I'm glad I didn't break it on ebay. That was only a couple of year ago, since then she's been to a number of shows been in a few mags exibited at the nec classic car show oh and ofcoarse involuntary paraded on the back of an AA truck!! Was it worth it ???????? coarse it was! Still chipping away at the niggly bits though.
With reference to the bootlid seal I used an off the roll section from a trim supplier at a car show for about a pound a mtr and fits perfect.
Keep chipping away and reap the rewards when its done good luck.......
all the best
Phil :)

Hi all

Finally managed to source the laso water pump with the plastic impeller! Went full circle back to euro car parts who originally said that the pump had a metal impeller,( on their computer picture) got them to phone the German supplier to possibly order a plastic one and found out they already have them, so "Happy days". Going to replace the other sill this weekend so hopefully should have the car back up and running with mot by the end of the month, I have decided due to all the money I have saved the car will get a full respray ( most of prep by me) new tires and a wheel refurb ,This will all come a little later as getting car on road is the most important bit for me at the moment ,Just cant wait to get all the interior refurbished bits out of my garage! Also picked up a new set of 2 Oem outer window scrapers on fleebay for £125 which i thought was quite a good buy, I have found my camera now so I intend to post some pics up ,As they say a picture paints a thousand words!

Good luck Jezzy

Hi Jezza

Be careful with those rear quarter seals as they are no longer available from Porsche.

Also see > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2nHMszzjrQ

He spares the cheap trim pieces but cuts the expensive seals ?? But I think if you look at the end of the program he shows you how to put the windows back in?

Ben

Hi guys .Its been a while since my last post so I thought I should give everyone an update.I haven't been able to work on the car as much as I would have liked in the last month so progress has been a little slow but I have however managed to do a few things..

Stripped powder-coat and mirror polished 2 wheels
Stripped and mirror polished 3 hub caps ( need a 4th ally cap )
finally fitted second sill and inner sill repair works
jet washed all 4 inner wheel arch areas removed all grease and crud
Removed any loose paint under arches on body prepped rusty metal
Prepped and re-painted all 4 brake calipers ( Fitted Brembo stickers on front 2)
Brake fluid change
Removed rear spoiler for refurb
All alloy window trims removed ,prepped ,acid etched and sprayed satin black
Started to mirror polish spare intake spider just to see what it looked like! Might end up fitting it, Removed casting seams and sanded ,Looking good!

Sorry for lack of pics I have been having a few issues with downloading pics as soon as I can sort it I will post a few

Regards Jezzy

Hi all.. Finally getting close to arranging my garage so I can really make some progress on the car! I am about two months behind where I wanted to be by now and its really getting me down. I have decided that I am going to do my own paint job as I would have been doing all the prep anyway and why should I let someone else get all the credit for the paint when I have done all the prep! I have purchased a compressor and made my own air dryer which seems to do the job and I did a spray test on the side panel of my Mig welder with some 30 year old paint that I had and I am really pleased with the results ,,Will update as work begins ,I will post some pics when I work out how to reduce the file size
