There are things that you volunteer for that you should not.
ie a 20 mile charity bike ride, especially when you have not ridden 20 miles in the last 20 or even 30 years lol

You'll be fine with 20 miles, just make sure that you eat plenty and drink plenty and don't push too hard. Porridge an hour before you set off, bananas and cereal bars and water for the journey. Make sure your bike is in good fettle too, changing gear well and the tyres pumped up.

Get a couple of 5 mile runs in before hand if poss just to ease in.

I just did charity 100 miles across Wales then the same back the next day last weekend with light training and I'm fat :D

Good luck with it and I'm sorry to hear the reasons behind it I can't imagine how they must feel being a parent myself.

The ride went well for the first 15 miles, until the rear tyre found something sharp and deflated, Yes I had a puncture outfit, but sadly no pump
So I rode on, it was a little harder to pedal and was interesting going round corners lol
After about a mile or so, something struck the back of my right leg, looking down I could see that this was rubber, I thought it must be the inner tube so carried on, later I found out it was 'only' the rubber that covers the spokes.
But old creaky and I finished the 20 miles

Many thanks to all who donated to the Stroke Association I raised over £450

Dave

Well done, good effort.

My wife and I went out and did 26 miles yesterday, pretty warm on the bike!
