I've got a mocal 13 row cooler somewhere and I've often thought if it worked it would look the mutts nuts .

Might be a good shout. Get a similar cooler and fab up some braided hose onto the gearbox ends of the broken cooler. Just got to mount it somewhere.

Give pro-9 a ring. One of their S2 race cars had an oil cooler and I remember 9products doing a kit use AN fittings

Cheers Dave. An eye watering 55 euros plus delivery for the adapters!! So if I get these I just need a kit with a 10 or 13 row cooler, 10 probably be fine. Can get a cooler for around £25 but would then need hoses to fit those adapters and the cooler. Hoses seem dearer than the cooler itself and I can't seem to figure out what ends I would need on them!

Where could the cooler be mounted and does anyone have any of this sort of kit lying about they don't need??

Would this match up to those adapters? I honestly do not have a clue about the fittings mentioned!!

I think you'd have to get some fittings and find out what thread they are. From memory fittings like this can be AN (a US standard), BSP (English imperial but unlikely), JIC or metric. The likes of Pirtek should be able to make some hoses up with whatever end fittings you need but no idea how much they'd be. As I say it would probably be best to speak to someone who's done this before, like Pro-9 or send an email to 9products. They may even have a kit.

I've seen threads on rennlist were the radiators are mounted on the gearbox in the same place as the original or from the boot floor just in front of the rear under spoiler.

The standard transmission oil cooler fittings are machined clamp fittings with an O-ring to seal. The fittings were resin bonded onto the original finned tube oil cooler.

A few years ago we had seen a bit of an empidemic of these fittings badly corroding, causing them to no longer seal, so our solution was to have new aluminium fittings machined from a higher grade of aluminium than the original cast items which we used with standard oil coolers with corroded ends to completely refurb the oil cooler assembly. We did this because at the time the coolers were about £800 to replace, not sure what they are today.

However, you can use a standard small engine oil cooler from someone like Mocal, and then use some braided hose to hook it all up and some simple brackets. the only problem would be the fittings at the transmission.

What we can do, if anyone is interested, is machine some of our replacement fittings, with any internal thread you want to use with your hoses, to your aftermarket cooler... that way you can just thread your hoses into our fittings, complete with o-rings, and will fit the transmission with the standard clamps.

If this is of any help to anyone, let me know and I will see how much it will cost, but I doubt it will be a fortune.
