What is this connector?

Any ideas? It isnt connected to anything.

strangly Ive just had this panel off on mine tonight I wanted to change my central locking switch as the decal had worn off

I didnt see this plug but I have a mistery switch on the far left of my center console next to the cental locking switch and I have no idea what its suppose to do as it just black ,it got wires connected to it ,and big looking ones too

I think, and I stress think, that the connector is summit to do with the fader thingy you have for the speakers. And the mystery button with thick wires toggles the ultrasonics for your alarm on and off in case you have a dog or leave the windows open etc.

The fader button is already connected! Im stumped!! :?:

I know but is that connector block not to accept the speaker feed coming from the stereo and then routes itself to the already connected fader? Either way it is audio related from the factory and will not be needed if you have an aftermarket stereo I wouldn't think.

Might be worth tracing it back up the loom as far as you can go to satisfy your curiosity.

Ah right. I will have a look next time im digging around in there. Its like spaghetti junction and there are a good number of 'dead ends'!

Looks a hefty connector - My first guess might be a complex imobiliser key insert or similar.

Was your car fitted with a sound pack? It could be for the graphic equalizer that was fitted on these babies back in the glorious Sam Fox days.

I dont think it was fitted with a sound pack. It seems to have two alarm systems over the years so possibly something to do with one of them.

On a related note, the connections that attach to the buttons under the cd player ie, sunroof button, wing mirror switcher and rear wiper...Ive noticed they are numbered 1,2,3,4 on the label around the wire. I have a number four connector which isnt connected to a switch. Does anyone know what the fourth connection is???

Central locking 'lock' at a guess, although it was extremely rare on Script handle cars.
