I love my 944 Turbo's performance, particularly with the ProMax Level 2 kit but I really like the looks of the 968. So, the dilemma is: keep the 944, fit KW v3 suspension, EBC and a bridge spoiler or buy a cheap 968 sport (if I can find one) and fit a supercharger...

If you really like the 968 looks then fitting KW and a bridge spoiler to your 944 is not an option as you'll still be hankering after a 968. Selling up and buying a 968 then bolting on a supercharger will cost a lot more than sticking with your 944 so from that point of view I would say stay with the 944.

It depends what you want - a newer, more expensive car on stock suspension or an older more powerful car but with the latest KW suspension. One will look great the other will go and handle like it's on rails.

Yeah, I know, hence the dilemma.

If I stick with the 944, I'll have a huge grin every time I drive it but I'll feel guilty knowing I've spent (a shed) load of cash on something I don't love the looks of and I won't ever get even a fraction of the cost for should I ever sell.

If I buy the 968, I'll have something I love the looks of but that doesn't handle as well and has cost even more but will hold it's value better.

Buying a car for its looks can be a bit of a disapointment, especially if its really the performance & handling that gives the enjoyment.

I have had 3 944's over the last 4 yrs and actually prefer the looks of a 968. I just loved the looks of my 944 S2 Cab and the wind in the hair motoring. BUT 18 months ago I spent MONTHS decide what I really REALLY wanted.
I was fortunate in aquiring a superb 944 Turbo (Simon P's Modified - the 1st one) & will NOT change it, just done the 450 mile return trip for an annual service! (National Express (ha) return journey 7-1/2 hrs each way)

IMOH if you do change you'l be Sorry, heard stories of other 944 Turbo owners regretting selling (& even buying back their previous car) but the decision is only one you can make.
Deep thought is required !!! best of soul searching
Clive

I bought my Turbo S back after 3 years, personaly i prefer the looks of a 944, at the end of the day a 968 is a 944 S3 which is what Porsche were going to designate it originaly.
But each to thier own just take into account good 944's are getting hard to find should you decide that the 968 is not for you :|

Don't forget from the drivers seat a 968 won't look much different and you'll probably miss the shove when the turbo comes in.
Having said that, I love my 968 and would not change it for anything and from the outside I think the styling is more up to date than the 944. I still like the 944s and always liked the 924 when it was new too.
From the photos, your 944 looks like a nice one and I don't know that I would be in a hurry to be changing it, especially as you've already spent money upgrading it.

If your going to change it forget the 968 and get a real Porsche :bounce:

Seriously if you are thinking about a 968 then you will probably never settle until you get one.
as for the difference in performance, do you ever use the Turbo to its full extent?

Having seen Tom lapping at Bruntingthorpe, I think that’s a big yes.

It was that one, the guy was open to a deal so I expect someone bought it before the end of the auction. Regarding 944T or 968 I think you either want power or looks, or to get both see the red CS on pistonheads now, and I expect the guy will lose money on that. Maybe if you bought a really cheap 968 like the one on ebay for say £3/4k and spent £10k+ on it you could build something similar.

I've spent the day carting the kids around and yes, I would definitely miss the turbo shove (and so would they!). EBC and KW V3 here I come 8)

Good decision :D

The EBC will stop the boost dropping off in higher revs and reduce the lag a little bit more and the KW's are simply amazing. I drove Mark Koeberles 400hp monster that recently had KW fitted and it was just fantastic! Extra traction, much flatter cornering yet much, much more comfortable than M030 on real roads 8)

Agree with Paul entirely.

Fit the KW and you will not sell it. It will transform the car. Most people do not consider the suspension as a whole where one part affects another so there is a trade off.

I highly recommend fitting bigger ARB`s also so as to keep the car planted more (I have Weltmeister ARB`s) and roll is minimal and tyre wear and temperature all around is even, so save your money on a bridge spoiler and uprate your ARB`s as I`m not convinced the bridge spoilers are much more than a practical fashion change as spoiler design became de rigeur at that time (the rubber one certainly plants the car at 150mph  )

Most cars around are on original suspension which is quoted as Mo30 or `sporting` which is 20 year old technology, is only soft road rated and probably shot anyway.

If you want an already great handling car to be even better and bang up to date I cannot recommend the KWV3 enough.
