Next job on my list of things to do is overhaul my brake calipers but I already know that some of them are a bit rusty inside and I may not be able to clean them up enough so I was looking into refurbished calipers. I was wondering if anybody sold just the piston that I could fit to my existing frame that I've already cleaned up and got the sliding action sorted?

I would've thought just the piston would be much cheaper than the whole caliper and I'd probably just clean up the frame and paint both parts anyway.

You can buy pistons on their own but they 'ain't cheap. I bought some a few years ago for a 7 & they were around £20 each then! And that was for Girling which'll be cheaper than the ATE type calipers. Why do yours need replacing, are they rusted? If it's light then wet & dry it off until smooth. If it is deeply pitted then try the breakers for another complete calliper or two & try that if an OPC quotes stupid money for a piston.

Yeah they're all pretty rusted inside, not sure to what extent yet so I'm going to try and rescue them one at a time and see how they look afterwards.

Just looking into alternative solutions as my experience with this car so far says that it's not going to go smoothly.

Good luck trying to find pistons on their own, they arent available from Porsche, I have no clue who would have them

I have a full set of good calipers for a Lux here if you need some spare ones, won't break the bank either!

Sounds good. I'll hold off until I've inspected the current ones though.

My bank account also has to recover from buying a new clutch master cylinder and flexi pipe today too.
