What sound-proofing material did you use and how did you stick it to the door?
What material did you use for the 'new plastic membrane'?
If you get the other door done soon maybe you could take some photos of the process to make it easier for Dullards like me?
Thanks
Hi,
I got some self-adhesive bitumen-based soundproofing that comes with an aluminium backing from eBay. It comes in various sizes. I went for a 200mm wide roll x 10m it cost about £30.00. There are a lot of more expensive ones available such as Rattlemat and Dynamat (or something like that..?), but they all appear to be quite similar. My car is not too noisy anyway, but I thought I would add this whilst I had the door open as 'every little helps', or so they say...

.
To apply, you simply cut a piece to fit (I cut several smaller pieces as they were easier to handle and place in the frame), remove the backing film and press onto the surface. Then use a small wallpaper roller and perhaps a heat gun to make sure it adheres fully.
The new membrane was cut out of builders plastic sheeting, it's generally quite tough. But, I realised you could use the plastic from a heavy-duty rubble sack or bag available from any DIY merchant too as they are pretty strong as well.
I will take photos of the next door too, including taking the regulator out, etc. weather permitting!
