Can't say I understand the gauges in the glove box thing either, as why would anyone want to lose this space after the tuning is done when it can store useful things such as spare bulbs, small tools, and, who knows, even perhaps gloves?
I expect someone driving without the glove box lid for quite some time, and then visibility is going to be very poor, especially in bright weather, and you may get fed up more than quickly for not being able to figure out at a glance what the analog gauges are showing.
It seems I have different views to some but theres no point arguing about something that I don't intend to change as it works very well for my needs and I haven't had any suggestions that would be better in my personal opinion, I also don't want to fall out with anyone as some of you have interesting things on your cars that I may want to no more about

. If I were to do it again I possibly would go with no gauges as its cheaper and with Augtronic I'm confident after a full tune is complete that I needn't worry. Like Terra has already mentioned a cheap android will tell you more unless you have ALOT of gauges.

In my case I use a discreet round digital gauge in the cubby that displays 4 values at the same time.
I spent countless time on the tune. It's never over anyway, you do need driving in all weather and all seasons to get it right (and I reckon that anyone suggesting otherwise has little clue what a full tune consists in). I would not have wanted to use anything more than this single gauge, as far as altering the standard interior that is in my opinion perfect by all accounts.
When I make changes to my car I spend as long as is needed to perfect the tune by getting someone to drive it while I operate the laptop on the passenger seat. Once this is complete I have never had to go back and change the tune while the car remains the same. The compensation maps once set up take care of changes due to time of year etc. so thats covered also. This is what I'd call a "full tune" which will not need changed. However I don't know what methods other DME's or piggy backs used in 951's have for compensations.
