Hello Everyone,
Sorry it's been a while but thanks for all the pricing info especially the pictures of old brochures - They really were expensive! Even more than the Audi quattro Turbo I ran for years.
Pictures were requested, now I've found out how to do it here are a couple.
The car is almost perfect except for a non-operative air con, a couple of stone chips and some fading of the colour of the upholstery. It's a fairly chunky drive, which may be the big tyres - I don't know 'cause I've never driven one on narrower tyres. The performance is electric and provided the boost is kept down most of the time (easy rt foot!) 25 mpg seems possible.
I do have another question after which I promise to join the TIPEC properly, (i.e. pay some subscriptions).
My car runs it's temperature gauge at between first and second marks, entirely consistent. In heavy traffic it rises nearer to the second mark, which is half way. However the bonnet itself does get very hot - in a light shower the falling drops steam off and if you put your hand on the bonnet with the engine at operating temperature it's hard to hold it there because the bonnet is so warm.
There is plenty of coolant and no leaks. Is this about normal or should I check the gauge?
Elsewhere in the forums people are talking about thermostats marked 80, 83 and 87 centigrade. That's fairly warm.
Thanks a lot.
