I heard a rumour that using rainwater was better than tap water. Rain water being softer and having less calcium in it. The result after washing is that 'water spots' no longer appear.

Is this true?

There's a thread here that says dishwasher rinse aid prevents the water marks.....

Be nice to get red of water spots when you wash your car....

I find a chamois works...

I have to say, i washed my daily at the weekend and then it rained.

Looked at it the next day, absolutely spotless and gleaming with no water marks.

I'd driven it as well.

Must be true.

Not as soft as the Clyde Valley. Doesn't make a difference to my cars though, a professional detailer would have a heart attack.

If you want to dry a car quickly don't bother with a chamois, use one of these instead. It's get rid of 90% of
the water really quickly. I don't even bother trying to wring it out. When it stops absorbing water I move on.

The above are also good for polishing cars and the beauty is that they can all be put in the washing machine along
with the woollen mittens I hope you're all using to wash your cars with. Just don't use conditioner.

I use this stuff instead of polish as it's really quick to apply and gives good results.
