Hello everyone, the door handles on my 944S have faded and gone a greyish colour and I was wondering what colour to use for respraying i.e should I use satin black? also how many coats of primer/paint/lacquer should I use? and can anyone recomend a good way of getting the white detailing in the recessed lettering.
I experimented with spraying myself on the rusted windscreen wiper and it looked brilliant when I'd done it so I am willing to give it a go although if anyone told me that you can have it done professionally for very little money I would consider it. Thanks.
Andy Bruce.

If they have just faded then scrub them off with a scouring pad to give a key for the paint. Then degrease & use some satin black to repaint them. Warm the paint & the item before spraying & you'll get a better finish.

Thanks, would they have been a satin black on leaving the showroom and any thoughts on the best way to paint the recessed "PORSCHE" detailing white again?

Yes they were satin black, not sure if they were painted though. Never seen Porsche picked out in white though. You can paint them & then when hard, brush some white model paint in & wipe the excess off.

Looking at mine i'd say they were chemicaly blacked. A gunsmith would do them again but you'd have to take them off for that!

Quite possibly, I think I'd want them off the door to paint them any way.

i painted mine (in the fastest colour !) using red touch-in paint and wiping excess off with a cloth before it was dry, not factory but looks good

So you now have slow door handles as well as a slower car
