South Central Trip to Coventry Transport Museum

Well, we were blessed with excellent weather...At last

We all met at the OPC in Towcester who kindly gave us some light refreshments. We then headed off to Coventry, with some difficulty for the last 100 yards trying to find the entrance to the museum. Once in, the museum proved to be excellent and all for free.

Looks nice. I wonder if the Central region has any plans on visiting the museum at some stage? :dontknow:

Got any more pic's?

It's definately worth organising. The cars parked out the front created a lot of interest.

Steve, sorry we lost you mate. I hope you're not still going around the ring road.

I was going to post about the last few hundred yards being a little awkward.. I went a while ago with another bunch of guys, only half of them made it to the front after getting caught at the lights on the island.. the phone networks made a bonus getting everyone on the front
glad the weather held for you all.

I felt a bit of a numpty yesterday when I could see the entrance, but couldn't get there in the car

Glad to see that it was not just me who found it difficult. This lessens the feeling of inadequacy.

I parked up in a multi-storey in the end after driving round the ancient bits of Coventry that the Germans missed on their last visit.

Museum was excellent, but I think Mark was feeling his age as most of his old cars were in there.

Steve

I'm glad you made it in the end.

When you turn 60 I guess your old cars will be featured in museums :D

Kevin, Have a look at the full year programme of events that Paul sent to you (electronically) at the beginning of January!

If it didn't get to you apologies

We are planned to do the trip on Saturday Sept. 13th when the weather is hopefully better, remember last year?

Lindsay, I am surprised at you; I know we have been doing the karting at Full Throttle today but I thought you and Kevin would have had a pop at each other over this by now!?

No, that's my '44's twin brother. It belongs to Mike Holmes and is in much better nick than mine.

Sorry mate, I get these e-mails through and file them with the intent of reading them. Then I forget all about them. (I can't even remember to tax the car.)(I got in there before you Lindsay.)

The family and I will definently be comming to that one. (As long as I remember?)

I was looking through some old magazines of mine last night & noticed that the museum is free entry. Is this still the case?

It's still shiny from when I used Clives polisher in September that was the last time it saw wax. It's been used everyday up until last week and is now retired to the garage again.

The salty roads have taken there toll on the polished rims. Hopefully they'll buff back or they'll be despatched and painted black.
